You could, in theory, pop Android onto a Raspberry Pi or something for this, too.

Been researching thin clients and supposedly RDP 10 is supported on Android. Has anyone installed that version and tested with 2016 RDSH?

I'll give it a go. I gotta charge up my Ultratablet after lunch.

Nice. But seeing how quick they dropped support for their Ultratablet, I probably won't be getting any more Jide products. It seems that they quit supporting their hardware own way too fast. That reminds me, I need to get mine out and see if it works with RDP 10.

@dafyre yeah please let me know if you do. I'm tempted to order one just to try...

Would be interested to know if you can do things like watching YouTube in a session.

I had that working ok on Windows 7 VDI, as long as you didn't try Full Screen mode (Had the same issues on an iPad too).

I'll fire it up tonight and let you know.

Back when YouTube was mainly Flash based, I never got it to work worth damn in Thin Clients, but if I used a full PC via Windows XP/7 it worked fine!

I had that problem in VDI. Anything that was flash based (not just you tube) performance would suck. The HTML 5 videos are better.

Windows 7 and 2008 R2 I believe was RDP 8.1 and that was when UDP and a better RDP client came into play. Ive seen some plugins for flash too.

So far I have had zero luck finding a non-windows thin client that supports even RDP 8.

RDP 10 is incredible. We loaded up Minecraft and you cant tell you are in a session.

In a Server 2016 VM or what?

@dafyre Yes deployed as session host its great. RDP to a windows 10 host just doesn't feel as fluid to me but I admit its not an SSD windows 10 machine.

I was going to ask what kind of specs on the server you were RDPing into

I regularly use my Windows 10 laptop via RDP. I've never seen it hiccup. (I was able to play AoE 2 on it over RDP without too much lag, lol.

@dafyre Over the internet or on the LAN?

It is a tiny computer with a 5400rpm drive in it, 8gb of ram. I have yet to attempt an actual remote desktop deployment with Win 10 but I may give it a try.

I am not sure you could deploy RDS with Win 10 on Vultr. I would assume it requires Hyper-V.

Both, actually. But even on my meager home connection (60 down, 5 up) it's usually not too bad. If you're doing something via Vultr, I'd definitely stay with Server editions.

@dafyre I believe there is something going on with RDSH in 2016 that is still better than WIndows 10, Remote FX aside.

I am not real excited about anything else Microsoft related. I was going to trial Citrix but I am not sure it could really get any better in regards to performance.

The changes made in Server 2016 are going to be a HUGE boost to apps that aren't DirectX. The new OpenGL compatibility stuff rocks.
