Physical Activities?
-
I used to play raquetball a few times a week - one heck of a workout... and I used to run the treadmill. I gave blood once and they told me, one less heartbeat a min and I couldn't donate.. super low resting heart rate, I think it was 55 or less.

I do alot of hiking/fishing

Few months ago I was feeling exceptionally old and crotchety so I decided to start getting more active (turning 31 had nothing to do with this, no.... nothing. Promise). Badminton and the occasional light jog on a forest trail with a beautiful lady friend seems to be the ticket for myself. Almost ready to nail some running shoes onto a board and declare them my first pair "destroyed in the pursuit of their intended purpose".
Wondering if any of you also are active / enjoy activities? I'm looking for more ideas that might be fun to try.
(As a half pack a day+ smoker and avid alcohol/food enthusiast I assure you this was not fun to start with, however I've found it rewarding in more ways than decreased pants size.)
If you think 31 is old,.. than jeeze... I'm not just a fossil,...I'm ancient cosmic dust....
(some place North of 40 and South of 50,....)

I really need to find something to do physically... I hate running I can't turn my brain off enough for it to be enjoyable. In the winter I do snowmobiling, when we have snow, so that helps a lot, I lost 10 lbs last season. Need to find something to do in the summer months though. If you've never been paintballing I would recommend trying it. Not for everyone but it is a great workout if you have good competition.
I enjoyed Ingress for a while,.. but haven't in a while.
I have been wanting to do some hiking,.. not gotten to that level yet. Sometimes it's difficult just getting to kitchen from the office.....
Hey,.. it's a whole flight of stairs between me and there,...

@coliver Try and find something you enjoy - it's worked for me. Cute lady friend I jog with has an excellent posterior and somehow she's always infront...
Men - I declare....
Oh wait,.. I'm one.. Beard and all.

I hear that. To ensure I'm not misunderstood as a fitness wanker, the below is an excellent visual representation of me at a light jog.
Edit: yes, I am talking about the dog.

If I start talking about anything more than a brisk walk, you can assume somebody has drugged me or is threatening my life, lol.

Weight lifting and basketball

I take the stairs and I have to park far away from the office door. I also got lots of exercise last saturday walking around at a beer festival.

I do long walks, 8-16km. Pretty brisk. That's about it for me.

Wait 31 is old? lols -
5-a-side football (soccer) for an hour a week. I also walk to work, which is about a mile and half.
I'm thinking of starting yoga. Partly as a way to relax and partly because, since I hit my forties, my body seems to have started falling apart, and I want to try and slow down the inevitable aging processes a little bit. I'm going to use Youtube rather than join a class. I just need the motivation to actually start.
I don't mind running. I find exercising in the winter much harder than the summer though. It's too dark and cold to be enjoyable.
31 is a great age as you're still a few years off your potential peak physical condition. Once you hit 40 it's all downhill until death.

I have a very nice dual use bike (trail/road)... I haven't ridden it in a few years. I enjoyed it but couldn't ever find time to just go for a ride.

Yeah, exactly. That comment makes me feel even older than I already do!
Anyway, I mountain bike at least once a day, play tennis in summer and squash in winter. I walk the dog too but, as he's getting quite long in the tooth now, the walks are becoming shorter and shorter.
