Soo guys.. I did what @Dashrender suggested and unistalled and reinstalled VirtualBox and rebuilt my VM. and ....
the install finally went through! now to update/upgrade my Ubuntu Server (right?)
and try this all again.

Yup

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

i did something similar
i just did the two seperate.

Then it sounds like an issue with either VBox or the bottom OS (Win10). Experiencing any other weird issues? Otherwise, I'd try the Hyper-V as suggested and go from there.

nothing weird other than VBox not wanting to finish the isntall

So there are three things that can crash here and it is not always clear which is doing what. But is Windows, VirtualBox or Ubuntu the thing that is stopping?

I think its VirtualBox. might be ubuntu.

Select "Unifi Controller-2.vdi". How much storage does that drive have?

yep, 1 GB should be fine for a ubuntu startup session.

so now poses the question. why wont this work?

Hold on. Lets back up here. Is virtualization enabled in the bios/uefi for the CPU? That could be part of your problem.

Yes. I encountered that problem a while ago and got it fixed

Are you giving enough CPU & RAM to the VM?

What is wrong with virtual box? sounds like you never setup networking in your other thread. did no one confirm that?

Virtual box runs fine, then once I get done with the install it freezes. How would i check networking setup. Refer to @Dashrender 's reply. I am literally new to IT ( most ive done is what @scottalanmiller refers to as 'bench' work)

Fresh install of Win10? Virtual box locks up>? that is odd.. can you take a look at the event viewer? Anything sticking out there? Have you hit the latest and greatest updates from MS?

Apparently i dont have enough space for a fedora dual boot.. @JaredBusch do you have a walkthrough on how to use hyper-v?

You just "install the Hyper-V role" under roles.
