I can't use that relay setting since I still need dhcp on the 250.254 network

If you're using some automation you could push the resolution for specific targets to the hosts file on the end points.

No, 250.254 doesn't have a DNS server, just services provided by the dhcp router.

I am confused. Either way, does the DNS server in the subnet where your DNS service is working have the DNS server for the non functioning subnet in its upstream list or a secondary zone for that subnet?

250.254 is my Meraki router (so no "standalone" DNS server)
Not sure if I can add a secondary zone

You can use an IP helper for a Meraki: https://documentation.meraki.com/MX/DHCP/Configuring_DHCP_Relay.

If an address is placed outside of your subnet due to the mask, the traffic has to go to your default gateway. If you want a different gateway you would have to do default routes on your clients.

Those parking garages are in for a rough time.

If you have access to the business account you might have better success working with an account rep. Getting someone whose success/pay is based on you remaining a customer could have more impact then going through tech support.

This one is tough because we tend to associate a lot of people as peers, and to some degree are correct. But, for example...

If you feel as a Linux Admin that a Windows Admin is a peer, you will likely always have one person that feels that they are "behind" on PowerShell and object scripting, and one that always feels that they are "behind" on text processing. But really, it's because they aren't direct peers. Sure, they are equals, but they aren't doing the exact same job.

Exactly why I refer to this as the Social Media syndrome. "Based on my perception of myself in relation to this narrow slice of what I see of you (not allowing for any context), I am not as good as you." Even two Windows Admins will not have the same sets of responsibilities and scope within their job. IT (and many other jobs) is full of "oughts". I ought to do more automation. I ought to have a <type> plan. I ought to have more documentation. I ought to understand this LOB software better. I ought... I have judged myself based on my oughts and other based on their successes. It is a deceptive, and ultimately destructive, perception.
