    • Fireball Island Restoration

I don't know if any of you played Fireball Island back in the day, but Restoration Games is doing a Kickstarter to bring the game back and improve it.

      https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/restorationgames/fireball-island-80s-board-game-reignited-and-resto

They're already almost fully funded for all of their stretch goals, so this isn't a Kickstarter that is simply going to vanish.

    • RE: New to server builds. Making new DC on domain.

Having done both, I would recommend building the new one. Yes it will be a pain to move things over, but you can do most of the server side work in isolation. You'll have a long weekend switching everyone over to the new domain, but it is doable in a fairly reasonable amount of time.

Why the bikini shots? It isn't very professional imo, and adds nothing positive to the thread or tone of the overall site.

You would probably have better success with a tool that can recover deleted files. I'm not sure what is the best these days. I used Recuva a few years ago and it did the trick, but it was finicky.

My iPhone 6s is cosmetically in good shape but the battery is shot. Aftermarket batteries don't seem to hold up either. I thought about giving Android a try (again) but can't make up my mind.

If you have Amazon Prime I like their Prime exclusive phones. They're unlocked (not CMDA though), so you can use them on most carriers. They also tend to be decent phones for very little, so the investment is low if it doesn't work out.

    • Public DNS Provider Comparison

I ran across this article this morning showing a comparison of the biggest players in public DNS including CloudFlare's new 1.1.1.1 product. Interesting article.

      https://medium.com/@nykolas.z/dns-resolvers-performance-compared-cloudflare-x-google-x-quad9-x-opendns-149e803734e5

I am curious if CloudFlare will continue to outperform its competitors, or if this is something that they're doing relative to their launch. Another question I had was how they are monetizing this. It is great that they are providing the service, but if they're not doing any logging and tracking who is the product?

    • RE: Thoughts on Bonanza and legality?

It looks like there is the possibility that you can purchase perpetual license software (non-OEM, non-subscription) in the US so long as the license was designated as an EU license and originally sold to a company in the EU. It isn't a matter of EU law vs US law. The EU has simply clarified existing law clearly and US courts have not.

    • Container Networking

I just downloaded this, so I'm not sure how good it is yet, but since there has been discussion around here about Docker, I thought it might be interesting for more than just me. It is a short "book" about container networking: https://www.nginx.com/resources/library/container-networking-docker-kubernetes/#download_form_area. You do have to give your details to Nginx to download it.

That's a pretty mild day. If there is a breeze it might feel chilly. An excellent temperature for a run generally speaking.

If there aren't any privacy or security requirements that force wired, I would go with WiFi. It has become sufficiently stable in my experience that there isn't a large argument for wiring everything in an environment like you're describing.

, but what kind of reporting do you really want?

To know what the current status of the endpoint is - i.e. version of software, engine and dat files.
Also want to know about any infection/attempted infections.

This last bit I'd like in realtime so we can see if there is something weird going on.

    • G Suite - Exposing account for logins and sundry other questions

I know we have some experienced G Suite admins on here, and I've got two questions.

      1. I have my device policy set well enough that my work profile is loading on my phone and creating the second set of apps so that everything is segmented from my personal device. However, when I attempt to use my G Suite account to login to an app (setting up Wave App) it is not an option. Is there something I need to do to expose that account or allow it to be used for logins in the native G Suite MDM?
      2. Is there any way to help admin another G Suite account before you get to 5 customers without creating an additional account on their domain?
      3. Is there a way to create a free admin account (doesn't have access to the services, and is just used to admin the domain)?
