I'd like a bit more color.. the white is almost bleak.

Ninite, likewise, can't manage software from Chocolatey.
Considering that it bypasses the windows installer - I'm not surprised, and bypassing the installer kinda makes me uncomfortable.
Does this also mean that plain jane users can install anything that they can package up using chocolatey?

No planned vacation for me till autumn.
I think I have 3 or 4 vacations already planned for this year (gotta burn that 4 weeks somehow - not to mention the 2 weeks I still have from last year).

RE: What's Your Current Project?
Migrated DHCP the MS way yesterday.
In the past I would have lowered my leases to something like 15 mins, and stopped until the normal lease time had passed (say 8 days).
Then (maybe in the meantime) created the scopes on the new server with all required settings.
Disabled the old DHCP server.
Grant rights to the new DHCP server
Enable the new DHCP server, test a few clients using ipconfig /release - /renew.
remove rights from the old DHCP server.
Uninstall DHCP from the old server if desired.Instead I was able to skip the waiting period since the migration process brought all of the lease information over to the new machine, withwise it was pretty much the same.

If I did not before, I realize now I have much to learn about Server 2012.
It's the first Windows platform that the Unix world really likes.
From a server perspective? I knew many linux people that were pretty happy when Windows 7 came out too.

RE: No more search?
It's gone in FF too.
but @addie is right, if I mouse over, I see the option.

No more search?
Is it just me, or is the spyglass for searching gone?

Ditto. I feel that there was little to learn going from Windows Server 2003 through Server 2008 R2. But Server 2012+ have been game changers. Of course my view has been narrowed by my SMB working environment.

Office 2013 is slower. It just is. You have moved from a Windows native app to a web app. They don't tell you this anywhere but look closely. Office 2013 is actually running in a frameless browser.
I'm recall reading this somewhere in the past.
I understand the move to web apps, but I have to say personally I just am not a fan!

RE: Outlook 2013 Very Slow
As a company almost everyone in the company has full access to our physicians calendars that they need to edit and update regularly. I've seen several instances where while running in cached mode users won't see other people's edits to a third person's calendar for a noticeable amount of time. This is a work flow problem at least and a double booking problem at worse. Running in non cache mode completely solves this problem. I can't recall seeing the issues I'm now experiencing in Outlook 2013 when I was using Outlook 2010.

It's the only install option that I normally use. I only install the GUI if there is a specific site technical deficiency making it necessary.
I haven't had the luxury of time enough to learn the relevant powershell scripts, that is why I add GUI, then drop it.
I'm in the same boat. I'll get to powershell in due time.

Shift+enter did nothing in FF, but F5 did. OK I now see the new color turquoise I guess now.

Outlook 2013 Very Slow
I moved to Office 2013 about 4 months ago and I've noticed that it's considerably slower than Outlook 2010.
Sometimes when I delete an item it will stay in the box until I either click on another email or I use the arrow keys to switch to a new item.
I'm not using cached mode.
I'm writing this after seeing a thread in another forum which has led me to ask if other people have noticed that Outlook 2013 is quirky compared to 2010?
Maybe I'll install Office 2010 too and just compare my own experiences.
The PC is a HP EliteDesk 800 G1 SFF with 12 Gig RAM and a SSD.

So lets say I have a computer all setup with Java installed. Will chocolately see Java and update it when I do cup all or do I have to install Java with choc, then it will be able to update it?
No. Chocolatey only managed software that comes from Chocolatey. It is not automation for arbitrary packages and it bypasses the Windows installer system completely.
Well that stinks! That's a definite +1 in Ninite's bucket. I used the trial version of Ninite and wow - it's just awesome at how simple it is.

RE: The latest from Snowden
@lost_signal773 the problem with that is (at least) Windows will automatically connect to MS servers to download and install new Certs that 'they' consider OK - Honk Kong Post Office anyone?
I haven't dug into it much myself but I do have a passing interest to learn how to disable this 'feature'.
