TRUE! Wow... some serious lack of BASIC I.T. Knowledge...
Eh, I don't really care about that. We are all in a constant state of learning. I'm not in a position to judge anyone
Right, but claiming to be an expert and putting this as a basis of being an expert is laughable.
And now we pause for a brief commercial interruption.
This thread is brought to you by our sponsor. The Arizona Wine Growers Association.
We started having problems with multiple sites where computers connected via Unifi AP's and 4.3.24.11355 firmware can't get an IP.
I found out that there is a known issue with the current firmware.
The work around is to change the SSID name, provision, and then change it back and provision. Unifi also suggested these settings:
WPA Personal: ON
Block Lan to WLAN multicast data: ON
Fast Roaming: OFF
Encryption: AES/CCMP only
Enable: GTK Rekeying 3600 seconds
Enable Multicast enhancement: ON
DTIM mode 2 G 3 and 5G3
5G Data Rate: ON
5G data rate: 54Mbps
Sends beacons at 6Mbps
Or you can of course downgrade the firmware until there is a fixed version.

If so, can you share please?
@dustinb3403 I know right!? @tech1 says she would have hit him 15 times and then said, 'looks like you're going to need a hospital'.
I was talking to a ScreenConnect / Connectwise Control tech support about some of the updates they just released for their product. Currently I have to run a Windows server and buy CALS for just running Screenconnect. When I asked if the updates would allow Linux servers to run over 1,000 clients they say because of the fact they use mono and not .NET in Linux you have to run Windows.
The tech wanted to argue that you can run Windows 10 as their software install doesn't make it a server.
From their own website: "Windows
Note: The server installation requires .NET 4.7.1 and above.
Windows 7
Windows 8.1
Windows 10
Windows Server 2008
Windows Server 2012 / 2012 R2
Windows Server 2016
Windows Server 2019"
Windows 10 EULA specifies what you can do with the software and specifically says you can not use it as a server. Of course Mesh Central is an easy fix, but it just bugs me that they have essentially become 'ghost ship software' vendors. (At least for Linux users)
Trying to do 3 DR's at once.
1 - Client that I told many times to buy a UPS for their server that has frequent power outages. They had good intentions but never got around to doing it. (They have one now!)
2 - New client that thought they could do it on their own that shared out every drive on the server, every drive on each workstation and got hit by a crypto virus that encrypted virtually every file on every computer (inc Server) that they own
3 - Client that 'moved' his server all by himself (without turning anything off first) - Still trying to figure out this one.
Oh, and keep up with my normal customer calls/tickets.
Interesting and Scary to see how fast it's spreading.

@Karlita's mom has a brain tumor and medicine is quite expensive. A GFM page has been set up by @CCWTech to help raise funds for her medical expenses. They are in Nicaragua where the economy has collapsed from both the war and COVID so times are very tough there. Even a small amount makes a big difference. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing this @scottalanmiller They really need our help. Anything above the goal will be used for her other medical expenses.
Heads up -
I'm getting a ton of calls this morning for network issues with the Intel l219-LM card. I think patch Tuesday 'effed something up.
Loading the current drivers isn't working so I found a legacy driver to get clients back online.

I think the company needs to make a determination if you are going to support Linux or not.
You guys went down a bad path with mono and are failing to bring the software up to standards (Microsoft NET).
Even if we are stuck with Mono, by your own admission you are stuck with a version that isn't up to date because of bad decisions made previously. If you are gong to support Linux, then you have some development to do.
I pay yearly maintenance to make sure that you guys are keeping your product current and it sounds like that money isn't being spent towards that goal.
Either fix the product or come out (publicly) and say you no longer support Linux installs or waive my yearly maintenance fees until you guys actually fix the product.
I also sent them @scottalanmiller 's youtube video.
I did an in place upgrade of Windows 10 and it looks to have resolved the issue.

Would you ever put a public IP on remote server management (such as HP ILO, Dell DRAC, Lenovo Xclarity, etc.)
What level of security risk is that?
Huge security risk. I cannot imagine that those things are actually patched and current.
That's my take on it as well. I was so taken back that I wanted to make sure I wasn't up in the night.
