Dymo labelwriter 550 over IOGear print server installation
-
@CCWTech No I haven't yet
-
Doing a search I can't find any reference to the Dymo 550 with any third party print server at all. Which means very little other than most places know not to try this.
-
@favianmedina what is the model of IO Gear Print Server?
-
@CCWTech IOGEAR's palm sized 1-port USB 2.0 Print Server with firmware 9.09.56I 9032 (2017/11/23 10:36:02)
-
@favianmedina Again, what is the MODEL? I need a model number, not a description.

If you're buying into the Dymo ecosystem it would have been smart to get the 550 turbo model instead, since it has a network connection.
Trying to make it work with some old usb print server is just setting yourself up for failure.
I can't really think of any reason to connect a printer with USB in this day and age. At least not for printers that are stationary. So as a general rule a printer that has a network connection should be the first criteria when buying something.

@Pete-S Called IOGear, their engineers say they don't really support DYMO. That's it's a 50/50 chance if it works or not.
Honestly best to avoid DYMO at all costs now that they make you ONLY use DYMO branded labels.
But that's another conversation completely.

Yeah, IOGear doesn't officially support anything new. Their compatibility list is from 2015 for their current model. So "we don't support that" is essentially the line for everything. Pretty important to avoid IOGear as well.

I tried something similar to your soul ago with a USB print server on a demo printer and it did not work.
I have use the demo print servers and they seem to work OK. -
