Poltergeist strikes again - Boss's office, nothing stays working for long
-
I'm nearly at wits end. I simply don't know how to help my boss. She's had 3 computers in the past 4 years, 3 printers - nothing stays working.
And before you ask, she's not abusing the equipment physically.
She currently has a Samsung SCX-3405FW AIO printer. The crazy thing just won't pickup paper on a regular basis. The rollers appear to be fine, there's nothing jammed in the print, the paper path is extremely straight forward, and there's nothing apparent in the path.
Short of just boarding up her office and making her move else where I really don't know how to move forward.
Needless to say, she's frustrated beyond words too.

Bad power?
-
The boss's stuff is always less reliable than general users. It's like an IT law.

There are two different wall power outlets in use, and they are branched off the same power as the office next door which doesn't have these issues.
-
In what way do her computers fail?
-
Windows constantly freezes up (other uses not experiencing the same). This is the main one lately.
Along with her printer constantly having either jams, or the paper won't get picked up, etc.

If it's a power problem, add a UPS...
AIO, are always fun.... Can't explain why it wouldn't pull. Maybe the paper, damp or 'weak' stock

That's what I was thinking.

Just make sure your laser AIO is NOT plugged into a battery backup socket.

@Dashrender does the room have a slightly higher humidity level?
-
Nice to know that other people have these issues. My client's weird issues moved from office to office in the same building and to the new building, even after getting new computers. She just works around the weird issues (never any errors in the logs though).
-
Sometimes someone just winds up as the unlucky one. It happens.

Bad user, more likely.

Same user that decides on save policies then ignores then, right? Might be a combination of decisions leading to freezes.

At least from what I have seen its almost always bad power. It just takes a little under or a little above the recommended power to get electronics to start messing up. I put in APC units that are power filters and keep the power around 120. Stuff quits breaking and acting weird every time, at least for me. I usually use the $150-200 units from APC.

That's generally true, but in this case we have a well known user who tends to create a bit of disaster in non-electronic form as well. So I'm guessing that this is more coincidence.

Don't you have a contract with or someone to call to service and maintain all of your printers and copiers?
Otherwise, you'll just have to take it to a printer repair shop or buy more reliable printer.

@dafyre I typed in a random thread number and got this one and boom... continued conversation.

Try these. i swear one if these fixed all my dad's weird issues and avoid that APC junk
