So we use Microsoft visual C++ 2005,2008,2010,2012 Redistributable.
We have 4 of each in the programs and features4 of each? Usually, you would have x64 and x86.
okay, not 4 of each. here: ill show you.
https://i.imgur.com/buFImMU.pngOK. Those are just different versions. Some programs "require" a specific version. I have run into issues where I have 2013 installed and the program won't install. I need to uninstall that version of the runtime and let the program install the version the installer comes with.
gotcha gotcha.
so it's very much possible that we need all of these. It is possible. It is also possible that some are no longer needed. However, I would be surprised if those are the cause.

Very true.

and another piece of the puzzle arises:
-
@WrCombs -- did you go into Task Scheduler and look to see what jobs were there?

yes, nothing to suggest it would cause a reboot.
I have always just been informed that it only happens when they run a refresh on their front of house pos
which tells me its something with my software. -

That doesn't surprise me in the least. Our old ERP requested/required a daily reboot after the backup... it was crazy.. but not my system to manage.

got a different error this morning on that machine .

edit
this happened 45 seconds before the reboot.
Looking back, this happened a few different times before reboots. -
I think I figured this out.
Aloha uses a ctlsvr (control service) to run the front of house.
it was set to log on as/.*user*
and not local system, which would cause the Dcom error I was seeing above.. Right?I ran a refresh this morning after changing to local system and no reboot. no errors in the events log.
-
never mind.
I closed the program and it started a reboot.
atleast no i can look more intently at the logs. -

Aloha Manager, the program that preforms the refresh

Customer emailed my boss and told him we aren't helping them nor are we resolving his issues.

I honestly don't even know where to look. I've uninstalled everything that wasn't needed to run.

The answer was given above and rejected. Wipe the system.

Ask him how much it costs to lose the customer.

We've had this discussion and he said " You just gotta keep looking. You want to give the customer and answer right now and thats not how this works. Keep looking."
