I did that. Same problem. Because it wants to remove protected things like

Use apt-get?
Seriously though, can you install dnf then remove and add yum again? -
Did anyone suggest rebuilding the yum database yet? (On phone, it's hard to read everything)

What I did to resolve everything was
yum removeall the higher versions, and thenyum reinstallall the lower versions.That left me with just the old centos6 piece and the php-common error.
