Decision on Remote Support Tool- ScreenConnect
-
Hi all
Joined a new company

Part of my role is to optimize and do continuous improvements to the IT Infrastructure, and I would like to implement a good remote support tool for end user support (around 250 users as of now). I am thinking about getting the on premise version of screen connect as I've personally used this before and know that a lot of you here use that as well.
Just wanted to check with the community before i make the decision on this. Are there anything that could be a blocker on going forward with this? The pricing page says its $2,195 but not sure if this is one-time fee or a yearly renewal cost.
I am thinking about setting this up on a CentOS 7 server, but a rough search gave me some topics here about some issues for screenconnect with centos7. Not sure if there is a windows based setup available. And planning to have this as an on-demand support tool rather than installing it as an agent on all machines; may be i might decide installing it on all users except the senior management. (For them it would be on demand to make sure that no one gets into their machine without a ticket) I am currently working on few other high priority projects that i do not have much time to check this in details, so asking your help!

Planning to use this as a software deployment tool as well
 -
@NTG uses it. We've been very happy with it.
 -
@scottalanmiller Do you use SC to deploy packages as well? Is it on-premise and if so, are there any limitations compared to the cloud version?
 -
I use it too but mainly as a secondary tool to our main management platform AEM.
But I'm very happy with the product. We have on prem installed on centos7.

We run our own. Not sure if there is a hosted version from sC directly. @NTG does hosting of it.
We don't use it for package deployments as far as I know.

There is a hosted version now.

If they are windows client go for my salt stack on centos uvnc script
 -
@ambarishrh it is a one time cost and you get upgrades for a year. If you wish to continue getting upgrades, you have to renew. Renewal is 20% of full price when done yearly.

Having used ScreenConnect or now ConnectWise Control for the last two years, it's been easy to use and manage. You can set up different levels of security, groups - which could be different companies or different departments - it has some good features.
Support has been great - every time I have asked, for something, they have been right on it.
 -
Screen connect is great. I used to use Kaseya, and I like Screen connect much better. I just find it to be a smoother experience.

Speaking of updates, just received an email.

To all the ScreenConnect fanboi's:
Does the hosted version (https://www.screenconnect.com/Pricing) include Unattended Remote Access? -

Does the hosted version (https://www.screenconnect.com/Pricing) include Unattended Remote Access?Yes. Those are called Access Sessions in ScreenConnect.
They do not limit the number of agents to install.
 -
@jaredbusch Thx, good to know. I kept looking for Unattended...blah blah
 -
They even have a free version for small shops or home use. 1 session, 3 unattended.

Not to thread-jack: hosted ($24-54/mo.) vs self-hosted ($2195/yr + 20% maint/yr), which one?

I was pretty sure the self hosted was a one time fee with yearly maintenance. So the first year would be $2195 and it would be $439/yr after that.
