Probably good. I wonder which rule was violated. It was a weird one, clearly the guy was going to be given a hard time. But is there a rule about what he was doing?
Don't they have a no-sales rule?

Maybe, I never try to sell there. But I thought that peer to peer selling was allowed.

You need to make sure you are very specific in what you offer and not be promotional about it. There have been some offering of systems and people just PM the OP but not to be promotional.

This guy's FIRST post on SW is to go into the SpiceCorps of Syracuse group and post that he wants to start a new meetup - but apparently can't be bothered to attend the existing ones or to post on SW. Seriously? That's your first ever post?

He PMed me as well. I do need to get back in to the swing of organizing the meetings. I think I saw @NetworkNerd had a good idea for one where he called in a local tech recruiter. It looks like tomorrow the snow will be upon us and if I have a vendor coming in that doesn't have to travel that far, that might be the best bet.

He did, yeah. I didn't manage to make that meeting, though

I might have to drive up for that one.

The crazy lies that people will say to attack me never cease to amaze me. Do these people not know how idiotic they sound?

In this case, I was working at the same company as the recruiter in question and knew him pretty well. He was not specifically a tech recruiter but had interviewed plenty of folks looking for tech positions. Have a look at how the meeting went for yourself - https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2090834-dfw-spicecorps-11-16-2017-career-night. It was very successful in my opinion.

SAM's Rule of Posting clusters continues as solid as ever...
The second insane "does overprovisioning multiple users on a single desktop make it slower than having just one user" Windows Multipoint Server 2016 post. Nearly identical to the last one, except this one is half as large. Otherwise, same tech, same question, same mistakes. Both in one week, never seen a question like this prior.

He just lies about everything.
Everything he says he does or has done in order to try to prove a point or persuade somebody on something, is a lie. Do you believe he is purchasing double licensing for all of his VMs and not using SA (as an example)?
-
Oldsmobile here is getting pretty pissy about "going to cloud", but turns out, he thinks "cloud" is a code name for "changing products and vendors", rather than... well anything that people normally assume.
-
This guy actually made up that he was responding to cloud recommendations, and thought that no one would look back to see what he was talking about. He's just derailing a thread because he hates something called cloud without having any idea what it even is!
-
I find the ironic that these folks have jobs and at the same time it's a challenge for me to find other opportunities

Is this Robert? I have several trolls muted so am not seeing what you are linking to.

Kevin, that is my understanding from Microsoft audits. They never cared about powered off VMs...I've asked about this specifically and been told they need to be licensed. I would love to be wrong on this. I'd suddenly have twice as many licenses available.
But, given the two options, which one benefits MS more? I think that's going to be the one that applies.
On a side note, a physical server with WS installed still requires a license to be a licensed installation, even if it's turned off. I can't see the rationale for treating a virtual server differently.

I got this post nuked because we apparently are not allowed to point out that someone has lied even when they are attacking people.

Yeah, he lies about everything. He's a crook and will hurt anyone in any way he can. I have no idea why SW defends him, he's a sack of something stinky. He's actually moved into full on evil territory - like he literally hates the community members.

LOL, except it doesn't. Never has. This guy will say anything, no matter how blatantly untrue it is. I can't tell if he thinks people are really that foolish, or if he really doesn't understand how dumb he looks.
He's edging into Curtis territory - he can't tell when things are plausible anymore.

How the F does a turned off computer/VM need to be licensed? Does this mean that full backups of VMs each need their own licenses?! If so, I'm so screwed on licenses...

No, just Hyper-V Replicas.
Whatever you are replicating in Hyper-V Manager that is actually a Hyper-V Replica, needs to be licensed. No, you don't have to go out and buy a license for it if its' covered by Software Assurance. But you do if your replica host is not licensed to cover the replica VM.
