Correct, so not really worried about it, but the whole "lets keep it a secret" thing doesn't site well with me.
yeah, that is weird - how can people possibly know they are supposed to use it starting monday, if they aren't aware of it until monday...
The reality is that people won't use it until tuesday after they have their new usernames and passwords.
That's fair.
An app on a personal phone? Nope.

Since I am working from home today, I'm taking the time to also play 'radio' a little as well. I just worked a station in Europe, 4,272miles away on just 5watts using the FT8 digital mode.
I'll take that all day long.. Like having state side contacts,.. but that distance is hard to beat when just such limited power.

I'm sure that's just one option. it's very likely one could punch in from a web browser on a computer as well.

I'll have more information on it Monday apparently

Well , since you don't know anything about it now,.. I'd say that's very likely.

Been a weekend of no real report. Rebuilt a toilet that wouldn't flush well (American Standard) because the flush tube was to short (insufficient tank fill), ran a few 3D prints including two F-Bombs using TPU filament (flexible) and made some digital FT8 contacts both US and abroad. Longest contact (heard only) over 6,000 miles, Confirmed contact (heard and reply) +4,000miles... and only running 5w of power. Maps shows I got into South America and Europe and (IIRC) Japan.. Things have been working decently - maybe come June I'll make a few points in Field Day for the club.

I got to thinking on a chance to do more for work,... only I'd have give up more of my personal time. I may still do some of it,.. but I am about done giving my time away - Paid or unpaid..

How legal are amps for your radio? I know my gramps was able to talk to China when the winds were right. He was running a homegrown amp for his. Pops said it was supposedly 4Kw.

By the rules set by the FCC, I have a legal limit of 1,500watts.

So build you an amp and keep upping the wattage until the neighbors complain about hearing your transmissions and then turn it back down?

93 degrees here (34 for the non-Americans). Feels good in the house (no AC in my office) but it makes one feel a bit lazy.

4kW? THat sounds like a pirate radio to me. That's a LOT of power.

It pretty much could. We could hear grampa talking over our TV sets during the first gulf war. He was Retired from the Navy, and worked with the military for a long time after as a HAM operator. I think that's why he got away with it.
