But my new GM (real Boss in the sense of my Manager thinks.. lol) said that it's my install and to do it my way, so .. here we are.
she wants to see what I can do.Then purchase 2019 and cals for it, if you want to downgrade (for whatever requirement) then you can do that. But setup Hyper-V on the hardware (assuming it has to look like Windows) with a GUI and then create a VM to run the site.
That part is out of my hands- Cause this is what I was told to order..
Hence why i was frustrated yesterday with the company.. like every other day. -

Talking about a Linux OS serves no benefit at all here.
There are many benefits to using a Linux OS as the base for the Hypervisor. Fedora and KVM for example, or if @WrCombs really wanted XCP-ng on the metal with a Windows Guest and then an XO installation to back it all up.

Don't forget Dustin - these are restaurants... IF he sets up Hyper-V, he will likely have to do it from within a base Windows Server install so he has a console to work from.
It's unlikely that there will be an "admin" workstation for him to use to manage this server in the future.

But your real boss told you to do what was needed. Which would be purchasing 2019 with CALs, even if you install 2016
-
alright, i got 3 installs today, I'll try to catch up with you guys later.
Can we fork this later?

Hence why i was frustrated yesterday with the company.. like every other day.You have conflicting orders it looks like - the GM told you to do it your way... your direct manager told you to do it his way... so which do you follow?

You can opt to choose a GUI when you install server 2019 hyper-v. . .

Any advice (other than leave the job - I've applied to a few places and plan on calling to follow up later today. ) on setting up this Server 2016?
Is there something specific about which you have questions? Or just general 2016 setup questions?
It's old Windows guidance to use a server for 10+. Today we generally say 12+, but it's not a crazy number.

Apparently - and this is what pissed me off yesterday - We only us "Real Servers" (as my boss calls them) when we have a site of 10 terminal...
What is a "Real server" to your boss? A physical installation? If so, setup Hyper-V and then build your installation on it. It's a real server, configured how it should be configured.
"real Server" = Server OS to my Micro Manager (boss)
Oh, well that's legit. Aloha requires that OS. So while the term "real server" is wrong (it should be "real server OS"), his requiring it is correct. Legally it's required at any size for the application serving situation.

So RedHat isn't a real OS, or Fedora, or OpenSuse or FreeBSD or any other OS? lol
This is completely outside the topic of conversation - I'm guessing to his boss - those things simply don't exist.
Probably never heard of them.

Right, and we had this discussion before. Which is why @WrCombs pushed to get Server 2016 used.
This is the OS that will be interacted with.

Sure, but to say something isn't real would be comparable to saying that Trains don't exist because airplanes do exist.
That makes sense, but you have to remember I work with really Uneducated people -
Linux is just myths to these people. You can always say "So wait, you say real server, then you say Windows... which did you mean?"

KVM doesn't need a remote station. It will give an easy to use local interface if you want (and by most default installs.) It's not Windows, that's a different issue. but if it is "easy GUI for managing" then Linux wins here, by a lot.

This feels like the real issue. One wants to see what you can do, one is sabotaging that so that they either don't get to see what you can do and/or they think you can't do it.

Yeah, other than being old, that part is all good.

Taking the 9yo to the orthodontist to have her braces removed.
Next round in 5 years or so.

My laptop basically self destructed when I managed to finally get Windows 10 1903 to install. After recovering all of my stuff, I'm now debating whether I should wait until 1910 (or whatever it's going to be called) to be released, or reinstall a fresh 1903 and see where I can get. I'm thinking I'm going to have problems either way.
I was having massive driver issues with an AMD FirePro W4170M. My laptop is from 2014 and the amount of time I've spent on it this week alone would have covered the cost of new hardware, but unfortunately my boss doesn't see it that way.

Got discharged from the hospital a couple hours ago. Doctor said pain would unfortunately be around for a few weeks, and put me on a blood thinner for at least 6 months.
They still don't know what caused the clot, since I have no risk factors for it, no family history, no injuries and no recent foreign travel. I have a feeling many doctor appoints will be in my short term future...

My brother got a blood clot just due to not exercising and sitting too much
