Windows 10 search only gives blank box
-
MS has broken shit again!
After installing KB4532695 searching may result in nothing but a blank box.
Adding the registry keys below, followed by rebooting (Or killing and restarting Explorer) should solve the problem
HLMK\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search
Create D-Word32 label - BingSearchEnabled value - 0
Change (if needed) CortanaConsent value - 0 -
I get this one from time to time.

Killing and restarting Explorer will suffice.

I just hide the search option on all users. They don't need it.
The few power users never even asked for it back.
-
Does it happen still, even it you have the search icon/box hidden and only access the search function via
Win+S
or after click on the start menu button and the have the search box appear after typing something? -
I'm experiencing this today as well.

Uninstalling Windows will too, which I may be working on later today because I'm getting tired of this. . .

The reg change and restarting explorer solved it for me.

right click -> pin to start / taskbar would solve that problem....

They probably just hit start and start tying. No need for the search button/option or whatever it's called.

I do that as well, the issue I was experiencing was nothing at all was showing up. Local search and web search was all broken.
Restarting explorer resolved my issue.

Yeah, in regards to this issue... it was across the board. Straight up didn't work no matter how you did it.

Right, even in Control Panel.

LOL - I use it for all kinds of programs, and I don't want them all pinned to the bar.. I have 10 already.

Pretty sure this is the same issue that has been reported for a couple of months. I pretty sure that this is the patch released to fix it
