Sitting around a large office waiting for a phone port from HyperCore to Skyetel to complete so that we can check all the phones that we just installed.

      umm WTF?

You use old school *67 call forwarding or carrier call forwarding during the pre port timeframe.

then you already know everytihng is working because you were jsut forwarding to a SKyetel purchased number already.

We have to manually swap every phone on the desks when it ports. So it is testing all the power and stuff.

      Eh still why?
My normal recommended process is set up new system on a disposable number
      Test phones with designated users
schedule day to forward all calls to real number to disposable number and swap desk phones.
      Wait for port.

Little home town phone company here, not sure if we could forward or if we did, if they would retaliate. THis was a "held hostage by the local ISP" situation. We were swapping ISPs, too.

Ah, never been in a situation that would not forward.
But if you have major trust issues that's your call.

          Fucking over it.

          I'll be back later.

Calm down and be rational (as best you can) throwing a shit fit will not work in your favor. Good luck.

That's why I went for a walk and grabbed some food.
          Smoked real quick.
          It's not professional.

Nor legal. US law says you get paid for time worked. In fact, you get paid for work done even if they don't make you do it - they have to fire you if they don't like paying for that extra time (I don't like that law, but I understand why it exists.) If you were in any way involved with them, whether reading email, avialable for a call, at your desk, thinking about their needs... they HAVE to pay. It's not a discussion, it's not a negotiation. The work has been done, the money is now yours. It is theft to not pay you. There's zero "up to the manager" here. Zero. And they can't fire you for demanding not to be stolen from, that's even more illegal. They can't threaten to hurt you to get you to work for free.

He's literally demanding that you be a slave.

Yeah, this is a weird case. Customer is held by several vendors. Some related to this, some not. We are getting them free of all of them. They've really gotten into some tough situations.

He's literally demanding that you be a slave.

here's the kicker; He doesn't have any say in what I get paid.

So then why is he asking/mentioning it or otherwise discussing your pay?

He's attempting to steal from him and convince him not to call the authorities.

Right, so the only reasonable response is to tell the guy to fuck off, and if you ever mention my hours again or my pay is short i'm going to the state employment board.

Then why are you listening to him at all. you are making more problems by involving someone that should not be.

because; He is the "direct supervisor " of our omaha Hospitality.. So he is asking me questions and poking me. saying x y and z about my time card.

Time to go to HR and report a SERIOUS issue. Seriously, go to HR, or the owners. Tell them that your supervisor is threatening to not pay you for working and that obviously that's not legal and that pay for work is not at his discretion and that the situation needs to be handled... today. Accept no pushback on the pay, and no pushback on the timing.

It's a situation that really needs HIS manager and/or HR and/or owner at THIS time. Don't give the supervisor the ability to backtrack and pretend he wasn't trying to steal. This is now a serious legal issue and the company should be made aware so that they are culpable in a suit.

The work has been done, the money is now yours. It is theft to not pay you. There's zero "up to the manager" here. Zero. And they can't fire you for demanding not to be stolen from, that's even more illegal. They can't threaten to hurt you to get you to work for free.

He's literally demanding that you be a slave.

here's the kicker; He doesn't have any say in what I get paid.

So then why is he asking/mentioning it or otherwise discussing your pay?

He's attempting to steal from him and convince him not to call the authorities.

My guess is that someone above this prick knows the law and will throw him out on his ass with one meeting regarding his bully tactics. Have you tried going over his head? By all means, get out of there, but at least take it to HR.

If they threaten to fire you because you aren't willing to work for free, walk out and go straight to a lawyer.

Cut and dry. You most likely wouldnt even have to put up a retainer. This sounds like a lawyers cha-ching wet dream.

Also please post the supervisor's name and work address. I think some glitter bombs are in order.

Honestly it is "contact the customers" time. In fact, it's "report to the BSA" time, as well.
