Spoliers - are you angered when people post spoilers on social media?
-
There has been much rage on the inter-webs lately over spoilers.
I'm curious what your take on spoilers is, specifically with regards to social media.
Differentiate between:
- movies
- TV shows (weekly released)
- TV shows whole season dropped at once
-
No.
-
LOL - yeah me either.
It's so funny to see so many people just getting pissed off, etc.
-
As long as they put "spoiler alert" at the beginning it's fine, I can just not read that post. But no reason to get all up in arms about it.
-
I just actively avoid social media when there is something I am watching late that I don't want spoiled.
-
Spoilers don’t affect me. But I do respect others to not spoiled it for them.
-
Since the spoilers I care most about are in book series I don't really have this problem.
-
There have always been and will always be spoilers. If it is something you care about, it's really on you to go see the thing or avoid talking to people (including social media.)

My problem here is that "spoilers" are also "social consciousness references." So if you think about common literary references, they are really all spoilers.

No spoilers bother me.

I had this ruined for me by someone in the mall due to a magazine article. I was pissed.

I enjoy spoilers.
I'm the type to want to know what happens before I watch.
For example, on Netflix for a given show I'm watching, I'll scroll ahead to read the descriptions of the ones I haven't seen yet so I know the basics of what will happen.
I don't know why, but it makes it more interesting to me. Same with movies.

That is definitely a unique perspective. IMO it really diminishes the entertainment value. I honestly dont even like reading the current episode description until after I watch it.
