Venison stroganoff?
After learning English, for years I honestly thought it was called "strokingoff" and thought it was just a poor choice in name. It seems so obvious now that it's clearly from "stroganov" but the pronunciation in English was just different enough where I didn't even catch it and I might have had I ever ate it, but because of the name, I never ordered it from anywhere or anything.
-
@rojoloco Sounds great. I grew up in Kentucky and had venison more than any other meat for most of my life.

I'm running low on venison, I hope my brother kills his limit this year. I can't sit still enough to kill a deer.

It's not often very good, anyway.

@tonyshowoff Not unlike German Chocolate Cake, in English.
It's not German in any way. And the name is wrong. It's "German's Chocolate Cake." A baker with the last name German made the recipe for a chocolate company long ago.

Interesting, didn't know that.

I'd love to go hunting. It's been so long since I've been to the family stomping grounds, I'm not even sure they're still there. (We called it the 'sawdust piles'). Dad and his two brothers would go every year and they'd all bring back at least one each and rarely have to stray far from the sawdust piles.

A steak guy brought in pizza. <sigh> I guess either the steak guy couldn't find a good source of steaks or he didn't have time to cook them all up. Either way. I am still really disappointed that he just produced pizza, and a really crummy salad.

Paul made salmon and Dominica made a very good sweet and sour cauliflower dish.
