The new interface has menu driven choices as well as contextual/ribbon options that show to the right of the new menu bar, so it is a bit of hybrid.
Sounds like the worst of all worlds to me. I'll have to take a look at it sometime before summarily dismissing it.

I'm disgusted with the EU's decision to fine Google. The EU can do one, and it looks like our government (British) is going back on the Brexit vote by not giving us the leave that we wanted. A complete mess our country is in controlled by corrupt governments.....

@obsolesce consumer will pay more if Google charges manufacturers a licence fee..devices will become more expensive, it's always passed down...

You're not wrong, but if there is a license fee, then there can be competing solutions. It is hard to compete with free when you don't have the resources of Alphabet behind you. Google is not good for consumers in the long run.

And probably never will. Even the technical pieces haven't really changed in decades.
