Rackspace's email is decent, but seems to only work really well if your users are all happy being constrained to web only.
The last time I used to web client it was horrible nearly unusable in my opinion
Been a while, but the last time that I used it it was vastly superior and more responsive than Outlook or OWA. They might have changed it, though.
It might have been more responsive (OK O365 is kinda slow sometimes, does irk me), but the RS interface was ancient and just horrible looking.
And that makes it unusable?
To me it does - just like O365 and Skype are unusable for you, but clearly usable for millions of others on the planet

A bit dated but totally usable.
They've cleaned it up a LOT! but as you then said - it's dated (but so is gmail - though I think gmail has a newer interface available).

Yes, but because people can't reach me, has nothing to do with it being pretty.

What do you mean? That's the same interface that we used in 2010. When did you test it and how old is your info? I've never seen an older Rackspace interface than that. I think this one goes back to at least 2008.

The client of mine that buys RS from NTG has it. They primarily use Outlook 2013 to access RS mail, but I have used the webmail client from time to time... Perhaps it is the same, I just recall there being more crap on the page, it's been more than a year since I looked at a webportal page.

Hasn't changed since the first time I saw it nearly a decade ago.

OK Scott - I'll accept that you have never seen anything different - I however am not capitulating that it wasn't different for me.

All screenshots are the same and match everything that we've ever seen. Maybe your customer changed their theme, they can do that. It's customizable. But anything other than what's in that screenshot is from the customer, not from RS mail.

No love for Zoho?
Entire free business suite including email for 25 people is free. With a referral, jump that up to 50 users. 5GB/user.Since it allows one custom domain, you're pretty much set. It's what I use for my personal business.
And even the upgrade of $2/user/month is pretty standard, but they have a lot of stuff available in their suite of tools.
I think they recently added full support with Exchange, so Outlook is ready.
Nothing wrong with their mobile email and calendar app either.

@guyinpv We have talked plenty around here about Zoho being a solid choice for the smallest businesses for exactly those reason.

It's pretty decent. I recommend it in a lot of small cases. We ultimately moved to Zimbra instead, though, as the limits of Zoho specifically impacted us a lot.

I don't think it's fair to limit to "smallest businesses".
They seem quite powerful to me, with a million possible tools, and even certain social email features that nobody else has.Starting a conversation based on an email (instead of reply-all hell), or delegating and sharing emails folders, seems pretty unique to me.
Since this thread is just about email, their email system has been just as good to me as gmail or hotmail or yahoo, if not more so. There is a feature/support box built right in to the program and I've had my own feature suggestions added to the interface.
In any case, when talking about free email with a custom domain as a hosted service, they are pretty much one of the only options, if not THE only option. And you still get a ton of stuff for free.

Zoho is definitely pretty nice, and if you fit into their free tiers it's free, which is a pretty big deal.
