In my previous thread asking about home server, and came to the conclusion of getting a basic gaming computer with plenty of memory and fast hard drives.

My questions what brand would you go with? I have seen Samsung and Kingston widely used. I will be getting 3 drives for Raid 5 & Raid 1 HDD for backups.

Since I will be reading from it more than write, I do not feel I need to go above consumer grade SSD. Especially when the drive now come with 5+ years warranty.... by the time it dies and out of warranty I am positive there will be a better option down the road.

What brand do you use on your home server?

I've got Samsung SSDs almost exclusively. EVO series at home, EVO and PRO here at the office, all have been dead solid reliable, and the data migration tool included with the Samsung works a charm. They even come with a little USB -> SATA adapter for data transfer.

I mostly only buy the Samsungs. EVO series. Never had an issue. (KNOCKS ON WOOD.)

Whatever is inexpensive. I've had good luck with Mushkin, Samsung, Intel... etc.

I've always had and seen good results with the consumer grade Samsung evo pros and intels for personal use.

I have had a Mushkin and a Crucial. Both seemed fine.
