I recently rediscovered the MUD that made me swear off MMORPG gaming for life. It sucked me in to the point where I was going to work, playing and sleeping and that was it:
http://mud.arctic.org/Thankfully I just missed the MUD era... I think I would have been in the same boat as you though.
At least the experience taught me to avoid them for the rest of my life. Same reason I'm avoiding Minecraft as well. Ain't nobody got time fo dat.

Not sure how I feel about this.
Does it really matter? We can't buy anything from Lenovo, even if they invented the cure to cancer, would you trust them enough to buy it?
You're right... but providing this isn't vapor/malware this could be a serious contender. The big problem will be software.

MUDs were awesome. I was a pioneer of DoS attacks in the MUD days. MUDs are what got me into a lot of gaming. I played a ton for many years and my first UNIX cluster at home was for playing a MUD in the house.

Nope, cure cancer but steal your soul.

Serious contender for what? Beyond Lenovo being scary and untrustable... they've never made anything actually good anyway. No way they are going to start now.

Lenovo buys good things, then apparently turns them to crap!

Well, they buy IBM stuff, but only the cast offs that IBM felt wasn't very good. What good stuff does Lenovo buy?

Most companies do this, with scale means streamlining production and other expenses. Most people need "good enough" not top of the line.

Lenovo is a great brand you guys are just looking for the wrong product. If you were looking for security holes and bloatware they'd be your go to guys

Isn't their scale smaller after buying, though?

Size of the business, not the number of transactions.

I considered the thinkpad line pretty good.
And while you didn't like IBM x86/x64 server I rarely ever had a problem with them. -

And while you didn't like IBM x86/x64 server I rarely ever had a problem with them. They weren't bad, they just weren't up to the competition. If Dell and HPE didn't exist, IBM would have been fine. But they did, so the IBM were too expensive and not quite good enough. Remember, even IBM wouldn't buy them internally.

@Grey said in Gaming - What's everyone playing / hosting / looking to play:
@Dashrender I played EverQuest for 10 years.
I did not go a full 10 years in a row, but after a couple years off, I got heavy into the EQ emulator scene, to the point of developing for it for a couple years.
Loved EQ1 a ton, but EQ2 at release was a great game. Interdependence between crafters and adventurers with consequences to character decisions.
Sadly they bowed to pressure and over simplified the play to match WoW.
