That'll be a fun project. I do wish that I had space for that kind of stuff.

IIRC, I think you can clean that horrible beige plastic with a bleach/water solution (wear gloves). Either that or 91% isopropyl alcohol.

          Compaq Portable 1

The one I snagged is the original with no hard drive. I only paid $40 for it. I can't find them anywhere online so I am hoping it is worth something, but if not then it is still cool.

Any ideas on cleaning it up a bit?

          The original laptop, ha ha.

          Only 30lbs!

No power at all. I am thinking maybe its a fuse or possible the power supply. I havent had a chance to troubleshoot yet

              Wow.. that brings back memories...

Might try some 409 or SimpleGreen. really any mild cleaner should be fine.

What do you plan to do with it?

I would definitely like to play a game or something. I actually have a joystick for it as well.

You can not only clean it but restore some of the original coloring if the plastic has yellowed:

This looks fantastic. I was thinking of buying an old GameBoy and putting a pi in it. Maybe I'll do that.
