@scottalanmiller Its the integration's that make Slack great.
There's thousands of the damn things and dependon on the slack we'll use different ones. (one for VMUG can use MailChimp/Eventbrite to track sign ups for an event, Stripe can track orders, ZenDesk can notify the team of a new ticket or threshold.
Or even the stupid ones like /hangout can create a quick video meeting (although they are integrating voice/video).

I like the app because I have multiple teams I can easily flip between (Local VMUG, vExpert, pan galactic corp, my project team)

Anyone looked at using Slack in business for more than 50 users (we have about 120)? Looking at the product, I've wondered about AD integration but have found we might have to use a 3rd party tie in that's paid for (Bitium).

I did see though that there is an Enterprise version of Slack coming, not sure what it would cost or if it would even be viable. Anyone tried it?

        https://slack.com/pricing

Seems rather expensive for what it is..

@Jason see the point below. Emphasis mine.

The integration are the driver here. If another solution can come along and offer anywhere near the cross compatibility and the integration, then Slack will have to start changing their model.

How can I test the email notifications from here? I'm not receiving notifications from your replies.

ML is hitting capacity with their chosen mail service.

LOl- the monthly cap resets on thursday.. you'll get notices for a few days, then they'll run out again.

There is also a daily cap once the monthly resets.

We got past that, it should not daily cap any longer.

It really is. And I've never seen anyone use it with heavy integrations, either.

@scottalanmiller you have obviously never seriously looked at all the app options for Slack let alone any coded bots. There is a very large ecosystem there. I have not seen anything like it since IRC days.

My understanding, maybe I am wrong, was that Rocket.chat was replicating the Slack API, though, so that anything built for Slack would work with them too.

I have not used or looked into Rocket.Chat yet and if that is true, then they are going to have a huge starting base to draw from once they go live.

That was my, possibly incorrect, understanding as to what their whole purpose was. Not just to look like Slack on the surface, but to be a Slack replacement.

I guess we haven't seen a pricing list for the hosted version of Rocket.Chat - but the open source self hosted free version is definitely a huge plus!

@Dashrender We don't have a price list defined yet, it's free for now while in beta.
