Looking for a location to run ownCloud (or similar) with 4TB of storage

What about simple 2 bay NAS? I think there are ownCloud add-on packages for a lot of different NAS vendors.

This is where a Raspberry Pi in a tiny rack mount chassis would be awesome. Someone needs to make a two bay, RAID 1 software RAID, RP Zero based shallow 1U chassis that can do up to 8TB in RAID 1 and has ownCloud installed on it. Could be like $600 after drives were purchased!
Hahaha...... that would be pretty funny to see though. . . .

Not all that different from the old SunFire V100 models.

Not really all that bad, but storage is where cloud tends to get really expensive. Once you get to around 1TB or more, colocation tends to start being half or less of the cost. Now if you only need it temporarily or you need it globally replicated, that's different.
Just got an email back from Hostirian, a local Colo facility. They are $100/u per month.

3z.ca in Mississauga has an awesome facility that will do 1U for $70 CDN a month.

Was going to suggest this too, we have a readynas and it has a local OwnCloud app if you want it

You could use OwnCloud + Amazon Cloud Drive for something like this...
Would this mainly be for manual uploads or would you be syncing with a device at your location?
(I'm currently using Amazon Cloud Drive as storage for my Plex server)

There will be 3 or 4 users syncing various folders.
Then depending on what I can do for backup, something else maybe.

Nitrobackup powered by LiveDrive is unlimited storage for unlimited computers (Biz version) at $109 a year. You really can't beat it.
