One thing that is bothering me is that it isn't centered on the conversation or doesn't extend across the entire conversation (at least on my screen). Not a big deal functionally just bothers me for some reason.
It is left justified right now within the widget. You are saying that centering it would improve the aesthetics?
Maybe, it just doesn't look right to me right now.

It shouldn't, it's left.

It shouldn't, it's left.
I see what you did there...

I forgot about this. I was going to use the giant bird meme.

Bottom ad works fine for me. Does not get in the way. It is there when I scroll down but if I scroll up it just goes away. Never really messes with my screen.

Considering you have to go to the bottom to post on a long page, it's still valuable real estate for sale, and not a waste at all. The only issue is this:
This is the issue I was seeing last night at home.

Maybe this is just me personally, I think the ad at the bottom is too far to the left. Perhaps it would look better if it was centered with the thread or stretched to fit the thread (not page) if possible.

L is for Lassi

Seeing that it is at the VERY bottom of the page, instead of persistent (resulting in more scrolling), I think it's okay. If an advertiser wanted more real estate that is persistent, obviously the blank sides would be the best way to go.

Is there also a left side column that can be used for ads? Just curious more then anything else.

No, only the right.

Not trying to be over the top, trying to balance a good user experience with decent ad placement but don't want to make it overwhelming.

Why doesn't the right side add float?
Simply because you jacked it into a space that doesn't? -

Simply because you jacked it into a space that doesn't?It's in the space that the platform provides for it and that widget does not float. It's used as intended and by design, unfortunately floating is not a feature of that space. The widget upgrades are on hold per NodeBB until after the 1.0 release which they hope will be in Janaury.

interesting on their part. I mean it is not like advertising should be a surprise. Unless you are charging for access, you generally have to use add revenue in some fashion to offset costs. There is no way that they should now know that and so much or the rest of the design seems so solid and natural that not having a floating add space in the design just blows my mind.
