It's pretty solid, but I don't like it compared to just using FreeBSD. The web interface brings problems and doesn't really buy you anything. Not like it has additional functionality.

Not having backups leaves them liable for some massive lawsuits. I'd be really surprised if they ever come back. Titsup was a good word for what happened to them.

They did have backups. They were also in AWS and geographically redundant. The attacker deleted the backups as well. The issue is that a proper DR plan would have addressed the issue of what would happen if AWS failed.

This isn't quite "Open Source" in the software sense, but it's truly remarkable; they call it "Cloud based education" but tomato-tomatoe.

Same here but before that, I was heavy into Infocom games...I could really envision the environments I was in just by the text. Zork, Deadline, Planetfall....loved them all. I was an Amiga guy by the time the Kings Quest games came out and despite the EGA graphics, I was jealous of my PC friends having games like that. I played them on Amiga too. But in 1987 the Amiga version was way ahead of the PC options.

While it's pretty, it still doesn't make coffee (i.e. No killer features that make it a must have and unique).
Sure it has a pretty screen and the camera is ok but it still makes phone calls, has sms & email facilities and lets me read the time from the car park (big screen) but so do plenty of other less expensive phones.

Call me cynical but I think it'll end up being just another expensive phone.
