    I'm a bit lost.

You have two NASs at home mounted to a Linux box, that you are then sharing to CIFS so you can mount them on a Windows box?

Is the Windows box not on the local LAN? If not I guess that's why you have Pertino as part of this, because you are Pertino'ing from a non local Windows box to the Linux box which is offering a pass-through to the NASs?

If your Windows box is local to NASs, why bother going through the Linux box?

The Windows box and the Linux box are both on the same LAN as the NASes. This is more so I can access the NASes easily remotely on my Pertino network.

i setup plex on my win7 pc without any issues. Port forwarding for outside access is setup as well. It took me all of 30 minutes to install and configure so i could watch on any device inside my network. I'm not sure what issues you had however.

In all fairness, it may have been the VM I was using. I just rebuilt a new version of it, as it had originally come from my first and only ever P2V. It never seemed stable, but the new VM is much more so.

@nadnerB Did you reapply thermal paste after you knocked the CPU cooler?

Not yet, I don't have any on hand.

You can pick this up at most retailers. Even Staples sells this! Works great!

Not here, you go to a computer shop (that sells parts) for this stuff.

Well I've reinstall the same version of PCOP - it's slow as hell, but it's working. Thought on occasion I'm now getting service is unavailable.

The logging doesn't appear to be working at all right now, which is weird.

If it's a UEFI-enabled BIOS and it was in UEFI mode, it wouldn't see an older version of DBAN. That was probably your issue.

Yup, that is a nice little unit. I think that that is one generation old (and therefore one generation newer than mine) hence the good price. Should run the latest Raidiator OS (6.x).

I found a thread on the Ubuntu forums here: ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1845962

It pointed me to a conf file located here: /etc/rsyslog.d/50-default.conf

I used vi to uncomment this line:

    cron.* /var/log/cron.log

Now I should get cron logs. I'll check the other place too. Thanks!

I've done this too for a small office, MS doesn't delete date for at least 60 days if not longer, and you receive a ton of emails before they do it too.

But am I correct about users getting kicked out of MS Office once the subscription expires? Or do they wait a day or two after the subscription expires?

oh, I'm the expiration and renewal happened very quickly for me, so no one saw anything - I can't say what you're users will see. Maybe Greg will know.

Though knowing MS, I'd be surprised if it was a hard cut date - I would expect MS to give a several day grace period incase IT forgets to renew, etc.

I saw the talk of "filesystems" as "backup." Getting to CentOS 7 would be good, although CentOS 6 would be good enough. The talk of backups makes no sense.

    viruii? 😛

Virus plural is either viruses or viri. As it lacks a Latin plural (which would be viri) due to being a mass noun and misused in English there is a grey area as to how the plural should be formed, in the Germanic viruses way or the Latin viri way.

I prefer viri to be consistent in the use of the Latin for Latin nouns even if the Romans didn't use them as a plural, had they done so it would have been viri and our lack of knowledge of the word should not vary our usage thereof. I attempt to use this consistently although it is hard with so many words plural forms being unknown to English speakers (campus, bonus, fungus, etc.)

I'm not saying Windows over UNIX. I'm just saying servers over network devices.
