I've been battling with VPN on Windows 10 ever since the latter came out. And if you do a quick google search, you'll find thousands with all kind of VPN issues on 10. Here's the only thing that worked so far, and I only discovered it yesterday.
In registry, find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PolicyAgent, then add AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule DWORD key, and change value to 2 and reboot.
Yes, that from here:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/926179/how-to-configure-an-l2tp-ipsec-server-behind-a-nat-t-device-in-windowsI had been holding off on doing this as I was under the impression that it was an issue elsewhere.
I'll give that a go and see what happens ... ..... .... .... ...
No, that didn't help.
Off to moan to the telco.

Anyone know of a way in which I can run the Windows RSAT tools from my non domain joined W10 PC?
I go from client to client and I'm hoping to be able to run the Windows admin tools from my PC.
Or anyone know of an alternate program that may work?
That is totally not how any of that works.
About the only thing that I can think of is to simply right click and run as.
But you also will run into the problem that RSAT tools are different on ever system
Nah, that'll only run the app as whoever on the local PC, it doesn't parse auth credentials to the external entity.
This works "runas /netonly /user:domain\username "mmc dsa.msc /server=REMOTEDC" but you have to run it from a cmd/powershell box & wait for the password prompt. It's also fiddly if you want to work in different apps that reside within different domains.
That's the beauty of security. Some outsider can't just come in to someone's network with their own hardware and successfully connect from all the RSAT tools.
Isnt that what PAW is for?
What is PAW?

Free equivalent of Hyena
Needed some powershell commands the other day to get last this and that dates and times and stumbled across Hyena. That's been around for 100 years so I used it and found it quite useful.
I'm not against paying for useful stuff, but $US300+ that'll never happen.
Anyone know of a free equivalent / alternative?
I know powershell can do almost everything, but there's no way I'm going to remember this command for that etc etc.
With thanks.

According to https://www.accuweather.com/en/ph/makati-city/264878/daily-weather-forecast/264878?day=1
25° is pretty cold for me.
Should I be bringing a blanket when I'm travelling over there?G'day @Joy where are you coming from?
You're going to the Gold Coast aren't you? If so, then you've nothing to worry about. I didn't look at the link but if it's 25 degrees C then that's about high 70s - low 80s F.I live on the cold coast, down in south west Australia. I reckon it's about 50-60 degrees F.

Thank you all for your great help & suggestions.
I think I'll look into the wiki idea and start documenting things a bit better with a view to creating a PS repository.
Thanks folks.

I'm trying to get some thoughts on whether Windows 10 will be replaced within the next few years.
Think of it as "I'm trying to get some thoughts of whether Windows 10 1809 will be replaced within the next few years?"
And the answer is, it gets replaced in the next few WEEKS.
Always refer to Windows 10 as the product, and 1809 (or whatever) as the version.
Imagine asking if "Windows was going to be replaced." By what, Linux? macOS? Sounds silly, right? Since Windows 10 isn't a version, but a product name, replacing it would make no sense unless what comes out is a totally different thing.
No amount of time makes "Windows" get replaced. But over time, it might get a new name, like "Windows 10".
Thanks Scott, I appreciate you taking the time to get a bit deeper on that. I'll let your words sink in.
Thanks again.

Moving Hyper-V VMs from C to D?
I've a few v small servers in which Hyper-V is installed on C drive (single partition on these servers).
The servers are running 2016, so I can easily repartition & create a D drive.
What's involved with moving Hyper-V VMs from C to D drive?
This isn't something that needs to be done, I'm just trying to standardise the build of all the servers I manage. So with that in mind, is this involved and fraught with danger, or is it a simple easy to do job?
Thanks for any help.

@siringo Right-click the VM, select Move, fill out the wizard. It's quick, easy, and can be done live.
@travisdh1 thanks so much for the help, sounds like I'll be going ahead with this.
Thanks again.
