I figured the possibility existed of that. Of course "me being me!" My mind says that could be the BBB, maybe they are calling because of a complaint. The guy that wants to do good by everyone says (take that call if there is an issue you need to fix\address)

If there is a complaint, then they are extorting you. You are not a member so they have no business calling you. Who are they? Just some random person looking to take advantage of you. They are not an innocent third party in any way. If there is something to fix, whoever had that complaint needed to tell you, not them. If they accepted a complaint from a random person you don't know, they are scammers. If they try to make money off of you because someone might do that, they are scammers.

No legit reason that they could call you.

Very true! I should have ignored it!

Well we will see how this rabbit hole ends.

The question really comes down to... how many businesses do you want to acquire based on having good ethics, or questionable ones?

Well, that's were this gets hairy... I wish I had this convo before my conversation with them!

I was busy waiting for another customer when I got the call, I did what I thought was "a good move" to help develop more business.

So know that they hook, and lined me, I wonder what happens on the sinker...

That's when the extortion probably kicks in.

You stop paying or tell them you dont want to do this. Then do they hold your hand to the grinder till you pay (by way of Changing your brand new public profile to "F")

Or do they just let you go? I doubt it...

Well maybe there is one other way... encourage my existing customer base to leave a message about my services while i helped them. Before I become a nonpaying business.

Then when I left at least some honest feedback has been left. And people can see it and make a decision. Of course I would have to screen grab it all, in case they decided to try and destroy me on their platform and say there was never anything good just bad or What have you not.

I have comodo one, but I need to spend more time with it.

I have been using their Endpoint management system with great results. But they are going to mothball that solution, and go fully cloud based.

I will be forced to move to that platform fully myself, or find something else. But for the price it's nice. Also they have their version of the malware analysis tool ( like anubus)

    • HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476nw networking issue.

I got called out today to resolve a networking issue on an hp color Laserjet pro mfp m476nw.

The customer stated that the twc tech tried to connected it with her but it wouldn't work. She said they spent a couple hrs on it. They tested several SSID's and easier passwords and they also didn't work.

She went on to tell me that she was referred to hp for service. But the system was "out of warrenty"

I told her I could do the work.

      Anyways,

      She has a win 10pro 64 laptop

I attempted to connect to her wifi with the printer, It said I put in the wrong passphrase. I double checked with her working laptop and it was correct. (I never was able to login to the modem\router)

Anyways I performed a full factory reset to the printer, and I got the same error upon authentication.

I then downloaded the HP software for the printer and performed an install and config using the usb. I configured it using the existing settings and passed them to the printer from the laptop. It failed as well. Side note, I also tried to connect using WPS without sucess.

I didn't try to use a wired connection as time was running out, and she doesn't want a hardwire for the time being. The property is a rental.

My next step is to check and see if it will connect with the ethernet. But after she has talked to the landlord.

Does anyone have any thoughts, or have seen this before?

There are only 3 ip devices. The modem\router, computer, and laptop from my understanding.

Just ordered a new paște application tool for sheetrocking.

So I'm totally worthless with sheetrocking tools. So I can't tell if this is a real word or not... is paște really supposed to have a Romanian ș in it?

My keyboard must have swyped to the Română keyboard... the funny thing is I can't figure out how to actually type an a or the s like that.

I grew up with my dad as my teacher! I have been working with paste since I was 4 years old... but he was like the guy that only works for one company and never leaves his cubicle. The technology out side his company surpassed him. Now I finally stepped out of the same cubicle and see such better ways to work with paste!

I'm trying to get buy in from him for his future use. This office remodel is how I'm showing him the new tools.

      having way too much fun

Which new tools? I've only ever really worked with knife of different sizes.

      Corner roller and corner flusher

That's pretty cool. Not sure if I would ever have a need for it though.

What I'm after in the future

damn now that's the way to tape!

When you combine all the tools together in phases it's incredible!

This tool is also an important part
      This tool too

I'm just asking myself why I have never seen a professional painter using such tools.

I think it would be more commonplace in a new housing development being built all at once. The bazooka will require greater clean up. Only really beneficial of you have enough work for it.

TBH, I know a few painters. No one uses such a tool, because the old method will get you a cleaner result and it isn't slower at all 😉 That tool may come in handy in some situations, but I guess not so much for pros.

It wasn't till recently that we were exposed to a professional commercial crew using these tools. They are a production team that builds restaurants and other retail places. The speed to produce a quality finish was far over anything we were capable.

Mind you we aren't hobbiest's, I have many years of building, wiring, and finishing homes.

My father has been pasting for well over 40 years, myself for well over 20, one of our guys for about 12 years, not sure on the other guy but he is also good.

We are able to work at a good pace and with a good finished product.

We have a multiperson contractor group. We work on many projects, big and small.
I have pet projects as well (Habitat for Humanity, stuff like that.)

      Long story short
The proper tools for "old school finishing" are still not a cheap investment. But this automatic tools are significantly more $.

I think the time savings can balance the expense.

Did a quick search for the Unbt Unifi Discovery tool and found that there is a Google Chrome Extension. Installed that and found the devices. Sadly though, not able to sign into them So they will need to be hard reset I believe to call home and pick up the config.

So cable monkey it is for today.

      Fun times..

While I said I didn't want to be a monkey,.. I won't have to anyway. Those APs are about 500 miles south of me,.. so sadly I'll have to have someone onsite perform the action.

Great for you, not for someone else.

Make sure you instruct them to hold the reset till the led goes out completely (about 30~40secs) I have seen where it looks like there reset but they just powercycled

I would like it to be an app (as opposed to a Web page)

It would be nice to have direct interaction with the device, and notifications from the app. So much happens that I miss with the web interface.

But I do agree the mobile web interface is very good no problems.

    • RE: Windows IP Assignment Issue

The 169. Network is for DHCP APIPA, I'm sure your aware of that. You have "configured the settings correctly" They just didn't take effect. It seems that the Dhcp failed and reverted to the APIPA address.

Sometimes if you tick the box "validate settings upon exit" it will force the settings change.

      Or

A disable and reenable of the ethernet adaptor will usually resolve it.

      Or

      from cmd... ipconfig \release.
      Then
      ipconfig \renew

Just some of the different ways I have resolved it when it happened to me.

Appears to be working now. Why would it only work with the extra check box?

Was there some policy / GPP or script in place which overrides the NIC to use DHCP? That would explain the APIPA address.

Just read your response and then realized I mispoke. My mind was thinking APIPA (but forgot the term) and was thinking Dhcp assignment failed and then the APIPA was assigned instead.

I just got my workstation back up and running. I have been working from my laptop for the past month and a half. I still need to adjust the mount a bit. It's dipping on the right a bit. I think it's finally time to balance the mount out with the last monitor.

      0_1474393286642_20160920_134015.jpg

Having taken my PC to NTG-HQ, I've re-discovered I could have at least two more monitors than I have... I think...

so I believe it's time to add to mine by adding another 24" ASUS

I love going to customers offices and figuring out what they do, and how to better help them.

Things they never realized they wanted they now own. Like dual monitor setups. They love how much better than can operate over one.
