There are numerous cases of ISPs throttling and only allowing content of their choosing on their networks.

Okay can you point me to one? Not trying to be sarcastic. I really want to see these examples.

I understand what you are saying. Since NN went into effect in 2015 were there any cases of ISPs throttling content before 2015, causing for the need of NN to be put in place? I don't trust the government to be the watchdog, that honestly is my biggest beef with NN. Just wait till the next time power shifts to the other side then NN will be back. Who is to say that the government wouldn't use NN to shutdown opposition on the net? Trust me I think both parties are corrupt in America, I don't think either one puts the citizens first, they put party first and quite frankly I really don't see much difference between the two parties. I understand your concern and it needs to be addressed, I am always afraid to give more power to the government. I think we are dancing around the issue here, the issue is the fact that ISPs are owned or own themselves content makers for example Comcast owns NBCUniversal. Charter Internet in my area sells Charter Cable TV. If the ISPs just did ISP wouldn't that address a lot of the issues. If ISPs were just truly ISPs then they wouldn't have an incentive to throttle content. I am not against an open and free internet. I am just not sure NN was the best way to go about it. I really think NN was more of taking a sledgehammer to fix something when we needed something more like a surgeon and a scalpel.

He probably would've been better off starting there!

I charge a Geek Squad fee. If the person has taken it to Geek Squad before contacting me, then i charge them $100 extra.

@jaredbusch I am being force to go watch it tonight, stepson's birthday. I find Star Wars to be very simple Sci-Fi/Fantasy that has always relied on special effects to compensate for a very basic storyline, at least please tell me there is no JarJar in this one? LLAP.

I don't use Ubuntu in any circumstances that would require being backed up.

It must be a Fedora thing.

      Anyone try CentOS?

I understand. I don't necessarily like it either, but sometimes you don't have a choice.

Can I easily move my VM's from XenServer to KVM?

Edit: If I use Veeam agent to create ISO's & backups, I should be ok. I'm guessing.

Veeam doesn't work on modern Linux OSs, last I checked. You need to use an old out-dated version of Linux to use Veeam agent.

      At least with Fedora.

I used it with Ubuntu 16.04 server and it worked just fine. I backed up the machine and restored it to a new virtual machine.

I installed a 60 camera Ubiquiti system at the largest hog farm of it's kind (whatever that means) in North America. I like the Ubiquiti cameras, are there better systems out there, yes. Those systems cost a LOT more than Ubiquiti. So you have to way the costs vs what you need the cameras to do. I don't think you will get around the wiring. Ubiquiti had Micro cameras that were wireless but you will still need power for them. Talk to the landlord, express your concerns and try to get them to have someone install a system.

I like 5nine when you are setting up a new environment and you don't have a domain setup yet. You don't have to go through the rigamaroll of setting up the hyper-v server and your machine to talk to each other. You use 5nine and get your Domain setup in a virtual machine and then join the Hyper-v and your machine to it.

Now, I feel like every other thread I see is someone outright lying and attacking only to hurt people in the thread. The acceptance of completely falsification has taken a turn culturally.

As a culture/society we have rejected reality/truth/facts and inserted what we want reality/truth/facts to be. I have noticed this for a long time.

I like MileIQ. It captures all of my drives. I then go into the app and swipe left for personal and right for business on the trip card. I usually do this while I am in line waiting on something, lunch, at mechanic etc. You can then go in and add details to each trip. Then you can export it out into an IRS approved report.

Awesome.. this was the first one my Googling led me to. I've installed it to try at lunch.

It's also included free in O365 Business Premium... I wonder why it's not in E3 or E5?

It has literally this year probably will save me close to $5,000 to $10,000 in tax deductions. All of my clients are two hours away.

I think it could be useful. You are working on one project using various programs, if you could have one Window Set for that with all the apps in it, I could use that. Honestly I have a ton of tabs open in Chrome, Server manager open, Hyper-V, Email, AD Computer and Users, etc. I have about three different things I am working on with all of those. Group them each into their own window set. It could be productive and useful.

Yeah, this is nearly everyone affected. Thank goodness for AMD and ARM.

AMD isn’t much better. They have PSP which is just as dangerous.

Time to move everything to ARM.

This is ARM's time to make a bold move to capture a good part of the x86 server market.

No bold move needed, just need people to start selling ARM desktops!!

I was thinking more bold business moves. There are things they could do that would really help make that happen. It would take their leadership to act boldly and take risk.

Why spend valuable free time with family learning something that you will possibly never ever use. Learn something when its needed and save wasted time learning something that's never needed.

Because it is fun, and it is what causes us to move forward in our professions.

Its not as fun as spending time with family. We all have our own needs from life - personally time with loved ones is top priority over learning things I may never use.

I agree here. Spending time with family is a top priority, but so is investing in yourself. I tend to bounce around with my free time (time to myself). Sometimes I'm tinkering in my home lab and other times, I'm not.

I don't see one as taking away from the other. I know for certain that my investments in learning is what has given me so much family time.

Oh, I agree, but I tend to do my learning and such after spending time with my family. Some folks see it as an either/or.

That is either or, your example even shows it so. First family, then learning - you have to leave the family to do the learning.

@dashrender I haven't coded since the mid 90s and that was in Ada 95. My daughter who is 14 is learning how to code with me. We want to write some Android Apps. This is quality time with my daughter. So it can be both.

@scottalanmiller is right. You can have a lab for Zero up front cost. Before I had a cheap 1U Supermicro server that I virtualized on I used old PCs that I obtained through doing support for people after they were done with them and I used them. They couldn't all host virtual machines but I could still install an OS on them and learn on them. Heck as long as the computer runs I keep it just so I have something to mess around on, I have two old Athlon X2 Dell PCs that are old but will run any Linux server fine. My laptop is an "Old" laptop that one of the attorneys I worked for wanted me to destroy. I destroyed the hard drive for them. (it was an old 5400RPM drive) threw an SSD in it, and 16GB of RAM and the thing absolutely screams now.

Short of having Displays with HDMI cables that will be compatible with any tablet or device (big pain). Chromecast will likely be your best bet. You can name you Chromecasts so they should be able to differentiate them. You could even use Chrome Sign builder to display information on them when not in use.
