I think I have convinced my son to skip college. Before you berate me as a bad father hear me out. He is a junior in High School. Next year he is taking the vo-tech program's programming courses for a year. If he likes it he is going to skip college and work with an organization called Launch code (www.launchcode.org) which will train him in programming land him an apprenticeship and then help him find a job, most apprenticeships turn into full time jobs. I told him he could skip all the college debt and still have in demand skills to get a good job.

The worst vegetable in the world masquerading as rice.

I disagree. I like Cauliflower as a substitute for other things, potatoes, rice etc. The worst vegetable in the world goes to beets, especially if they are pickled. However, I do like beet juice in my home juicer.

I'd rather have broccoli and sweet potatoes than cauliflower.

I didn't say cauliflower was the best. It just is useful. My favorite veggie would have to be carrots, followed closely by turnip greens.

I hate that. You always have a few outliers before you standardize on things and they are always the gotchas. This has happened to me on many occasions.

I am down 28 lbs . Should be hitting in the 270s next week. Just posted this in another thread but thought I would here too as it relates here. I have given up all forms of processed sugar. Sugar is so insidious and addictive. I already gave up most sugar, but I recently switched to standard creamer for my coffee and not the flavored sugar filled kind. That was one of the last spots of sugar for me. I am now completely sugar free. I am staying away from restaurants as well, at least as much as I can, and trying to order at restaurants very carefully.

I have given up all sugar, processed sugar not natural sugar in fruit. Sugar is so damaging to your body and it is so addictive. Honestly it has probably killed more people than tobacco has.

@dustinb3403 said in FCC Net Neutrality Insanity Continues:

Rhode Island is attempting to pass a law forcing anyone who wants to watch pornographic material pay a one time $20 fee, which this law would immediately stop people from content which they legally have the right to view.

The goal is to help stop sex trafficking and the like of other illegal activity, but also goes a step further and would require ISPs to block any content that is "patently offensive material".

So who gets to decide what is patently offensive material??

I have been wavering on Net Neutrality for a while. I think though overall it is a good thing. I would just like to make sure that it is transparent and that there is oversight/checks and balances at the FCC. This Rhode Island proposal is what threw me over the edge. I am always hesitate of government regulation, however government does have a job to do and a role to play. With the Intranet truly being something that crosses state lines, this would fall to the preview of the federal government. We have to stop the silliness of things like this Rhode Island law to come into effect.

fines? I think jail time would be appropriate.

I would never make it, I'm a major Weenie

I was a prison guard for six years. Trust me you will be fine.

Rule number 1 in life... Never trust somebody who says "trust me."

I was the Sergeant of a housing unit, front-line supervisor. I was out in a wing of the housing unit a field mouse runs out into the wing. All these big tough felons, scream and jump on a chair. I mean high pitch screaming and standing on chairs. I started to laugh and nearly wet myself. Then the mouse comes near me, I trap it in a plastic bag and release out back behind the housing unit. Yes I know it probably just came back in but it made the offenders happy. So trust me @Tech1 will be fine.

I sneezed and then the pain hit me. I passed out and fell down. Luckily I did not hurt anything when I did, well the coffee table bit the dust.
