Not sure if this applies to downgrades but when a client went from BP to E3, the process meant their BP was cancelled, they were billed for the full year of E3 and then a prorated credit was issued about 45 days later for the BP subscription. Somehow, MS couldn't manage to bill only for the upgraded cost and had to issue new and cancel old. That was about a year ago so I'm not sure if they still do this but that was a PITA.
Looks like that vulnerability is worse than expected.

I upload Veeam backups to Wasabi (and before that, S3) outside of Veeam. I pull down the backups and import them back into Veeam, via the import feature.
I would like to see how well it works when everything is natively done in Veeam. If that is even possible.
How do you upload your backups to Wasabi? Are you using a 3rd party tool?

I use CloudFlare, Google and OPENDNS. I have need to do this when CloudFlare at some moments stops working.
How often does Cloudflare stop working?
Their DNS was down for a bit almost a year ago I think but that's the only outage I'm aware of.
Most of my clients who are using Veeam for backup and running local backups for fast restores as well as a backup copy job to a NAS which is then moved offsite, either to cloud or to a remote NAS. This works very well but I am looking at introducing a direct Veeam to cloud backup. I have a temp account with Wasabi because I wanted to give their service a try.
I'm running Veeam B&R Enterprise Plus v9.5 Update 4 (this is the version that allows this functionality).
The Good:
Very easy to sign-up and setup a bucket
Setting up a new backup repository along with the S3 compatible scale-out repository was also easy
The tests I've run so far look like it is capable of uploading to Wasabi at ~50MBps (yes, MB not Mb, which is better than almost any other cloud storage I've used)
The Bad (and this is totally due to my lack of experience):
The point of having the backups sent to cloud is to have a remote copy in case the local backup gets obliterated. Problem is, I can't figure out how to test restoring a VM from a Wasabi backup if my local backup gets nuked.
The Question:
I want to simulate the loss of my local backups. Has anyone used Wasabi or AWS with Veeam in this way where you've lost local backup and needed to restore from a cloud backup? I can delete the local backup files but that just causes the restore to fail even though the cloud backup still exists. So I'm missing something. I want to fully simulate various loss scenarios in my lab and would appreciate any experience anyone here can share.
I am hoping the answer isn't "download the entire archive" but who knows lol.

Damn! That took a dark turn rather quickly
Will have to toy with that later and see if I can break something while turning this on
Followed @JaredBusch link to instructions and worked like a charm.
@JaredBusch Thanks for this. Will give it a try.

I've used regular (non-Dell) drives in servers for a while, zero issues. The iDRAC will still show predicted failures, etc in my experience. However, I have had no success putting non-Dell drives into storage devices (we have an MD3xxx, it will not recognize regular drives).
Want to mention the specific drives that are working for you?
I have Kingston KC400 (SKC400S37/512G) drives in a R620 that work perfectly and show predicted failure...etc.

Airbnb guest found hidden surveillance camera by scanning Wi-Fi network
Airbnb initially didn't ban offender despite rule against undisclosed cameras.
"Once the family had unpacked, Andrew Barker, who works in IT security, scanned the house's Wi-Fi network," CNN reported today. "The scan unearthed a camera and subsequently a live feed. From the angle of the video, the family tracked down the camera, concealed in what appeared to be a smoke alarm or carbon monoxide detector."
These stories are becoming more common.

Well this isn't going to help their cause. lol
I had a similar issue in a workgroup with drives disconnecting. A bunch of Googling brought me to this.

That seemed to fix the issue for me.

I'm curious how this works? how is the cellphone integrated into the solution?
VoIP.ms has a "routing if unreachable" setting where you can enter a cell phone to forward calls to if there an interruption between VoIP.ms and FreePBX.

Why would he do this? This isn't a HA setup. His home DS918+ is a backup only. Recovery would likely mean purchasing a new Synology and recovering from his backups at home. Now, whether that's been done/tested, haven't asked and my guess would be no.
I am willing to bet his expectations are that he can.
You may be right.
