First of all I would like to say... S.A.M. I miss talking to you. I hope is well.
To anyone who is strong in MS VMs I could sure use your Jedi powers to help me through this issue.

Enclosed, please find what I get when I try to start the V machine
I have removed and reinstalled the role
A new VM with minimal configuration has the same error when I try to start it
The event log error number is 3040
Virtualization is turned on in the bios
This all worked for years, then it stopped. I upgraded the OS and it worked again for months but now it stopped working again

@bnrstnr said in PINGing issue...please help!:

      https://kb.iu.edu/d/aopy

This is claiming that the default firewall setup blocks ping and shows how to enable it. I've personally never seen this and have always been able to ping.

EDIT: With the firewall off, though, this doesn't seem to apply.

This post got me to thinking. I dug a bit deeper into the firewall. I found something that did the trick. I was checking the Firewall of the Windows and not that of the AV. Once I did some testing and search further into the AV, I found a way to allow pinging to take place.
With that said, I would like to thank all of you for coming to my rescue. Thank so much for all of your insight.

Try pinging both from a third party and see if either is pingable in general. My guess is that ICMP is blocked by something on those.

I previously used a PING app on my mobile and found that I couldn't ping either clients.

    • PINGing issue...please help!

Calling all IT brains! For the life of me I, for some reason, can't figure out why I can't ping between two computer. Computer A and B can ping all the NAS and other devices, but not each other. On both computers I disable the AV, firewall, checked the ICMP, File and Printer sharing are enabled, Netbios protocol enable and checked for blockage on the router. Although pinging is an issue, I can remote into each machine from one another. Arp and net view, on both computers, can see the other computer listed. Yet, inspite of all my efforts, no love.
The technical in environment...Computer A OS is a Windows 7 Ulti and Computer B OS is a Windows 10 pro. Am I missing something?
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

      agreed - it's just weird.

      Pocket her net
      Pock ethernet

      Somethings you just can't shorten.

just call it's Pocket ethernet or Pock[et]hernet if you must get cute.

Or PocketEther, but that would be like a butane torch name.

Or you can call it P.E.N. = PocketEtherNet.

    • RE: Oracle Database and schemas...please help!

All I'm hearing are good points as to why Oracle sucks and dying. Nothing about other DB alternatives. I'm open for suggestion. I'm looking on some feedback as to which DB is best to get a cert for. I don't want to get a cert that's turning legacy the day after I received it.

    • RE: Oracle Database and schemas...please help!

@stacksofplates and @scottalanmiller the ranking still shows Oracle as #1. Somebody has to be spending the money on the product if it's still listed as #1. Am I missing something here?
Scott, the reason why I would like to learn DB is to try a different field. I need to build up my certs on my resume. I'm tired of doing contract work here in Ontario. I want to permanent gig.
So what DB certs do any of you gents suggest to go for? I'm curious as to what your thoughts are.

    • Oracle Database and schemas...please help!

Greeting Mango Fam. The question I have today is can you install or import OE schema into Oracle 11g XE? Either it's not possible or no one cared to post this scenario online. I'm studying for the for the Associate test. One of the tutorials call for me to work with the OE schema. I learned that it doesn't automatically come with XE.
If I d/l standard to use for my tutorial is there a cost?
If anyone has any valuable resource that they can share to help me prep for this test, I would greatly appreciate it.

In advanced, thank you for any and all the help.
