Are you just trying to have scripts run on login for each new user on each new machine?

Yeah, to do things like clean up the dock, add specific items to the dock, set the finder preferences etc.

Manually running it once the user is logged in, isn't an issue, just a nuisance.

      For this use docutil

Also, look at outset which will let you run scripts at login, logout, etc.

I have not been in an org (anywhere from 40 - 1500 users) in the last 10 years that has had more Windows machines and Mac, ChromeOS, LInux. Mac has usually made up the majority in most orgs. ChromeOS was the lead in one, 60% total.

    • RE: Security Certification Options

@flaxking That was the one I was thinking of as the lowest barrier to just be able to tick the box on one of them. CEH had a lot of quality feedback from those that took it here and I was also thinking this would be the more interesting one. The CISSP being the security cert to get if I wanted the one that held the most value going someplace else but also requiring the most effort.

    • Security Certification Options

I have to pick from the following list as part of the requirements for a Google Partner Specialisation requirement. I've done the Network+ (gfl) in the past so vaguely familiar with CompTIA. Curious to know if anyone has taken these and what their thoughts on it was. Any other comments welcome.

CISSP: Certified Information Systems Security Professional
      CISM: Certified Information Security Manager
      CompTIA Security+
      CEH: Certified Ethical Hacker
      GSEC: SANS GIAC Security Essentials

@scottalanmiller I did look there first in fact. The Dell 720xd came out to be similar in price for same(ish) spec and I didn't add the drives yet. Perhaps a better model to use to compare against the 380p?

    • Home Server suggestions

Finally buying a house which means I'll be upgrading my multiple mac mini's for an actual server. I'm looking for suggestions if there's anything comparable in terms of spec/cost/storage. I'd like to keep the cost below $3k for the server.

      HP DL380p G8 3.5"
      2x 3.3GHz E5-2667 v2 8-Core
      256GB RAM
      12 x 4TB SAS 7.2k
      $2,830

      Use case
Home media server running Plex (14TB raw content to load)
NVR for home CCTV (12 cameras, 720p, 30 days min)
VMs for various small things of this/that to test with

As I was writing this I looked up the latest Unifi camera's and saw they have a Cloud Key Gen2 Plus which can take at least a 5TB drive (single drive only though). That could take over as the nvr instead of the above.

    • RE: Do you put TODOs on your calendar?

For me now, yes. Everything I do and need to do gets put on the calendar. It's the best way for me to track time spent on all tasks which need to then be logged in our project management and billing tool against clients. It's also the best way for me to ensure that I allocate time I need to get a specific task done, otherwise my calendar will be booked full of meetings for other things. This is an example of a week after being at a conference the week before, not many meetings that I booked for myself, all meetings that I needed to attend at the request of others. (shown in BST, but I'm CST)

I ended up removing the LDAP Search OU on the Locations and got the users to sync. Login is also working for the users.

So the nice to have would be getting the Locations to filter each person based on the Group they are a member of in JumpCloud.
