What is the basis for this opinion.

Usage. Use it and you will see.

I'm a user of Discourse based forums at a few sites.

That does not answer the question. Because I see no difference either way.

What makes it better in a business setting?

Same here, they seem about the same to me. But NodeBB is faster and I like the dev team more.

As an "extender", you'd definitely need a parent of some sort.

It was really frustrating setting Imgur up, because you didn't get a sign in like a normal app when we did it (this is 2014.) Crazy confusing to use, because you registered and got the API info, but no account to use.

Looks like you have to register at some point. And there seems to be a header when imgur API's are accessed and that how they know which account it is that is posting the image.
If you can check what that is, you'll know your client id.

      From https://api.imgur.com/:

      Register an Application (IMPORTANT)

Each client must register their application and receive the client_id and client_secret.
For public read-only and anonymous resources, such as getting image info, looking up user comments, etc. all you need to do is send an authorization header with your client_id in your requests. This also works if you'd like to upload images anonymously (without the image being tied to an account), or if you'd like to create an anonymous album. This lets us know which application is accessing the API.

      Authorization: Client-ID YOUR_CLIENT_ID

Yes, you register. But during the registration process, at least in 2014, there was no "account login" involved. No username or password. There was registration and the API / secret. But can we use that to log in?

No, doesn't look like you can use that to login. It actually looks like you can't remove images using the API either - if they have been uploaded anonymously with your client_id. You need the deletehash value from each upload mentioned earlier in this thread and it look like nodebb imgur plugin doesn't save that info. So no dice.

I think @JaredBusch has another setup. He tied the application to his imgur user account - by getting the client id/secret for the webapp from imgur while being logged in.

So when images are posted to imgur using the client id Jared got, they will automatically belong to his user account.

How do you get a client if and secret without an account?

I used My twitter log in to make the imgur account forever ago. Long before I made the api creds. I would never do it that way in today’s world.

@AdminEvo I've found the JumpCloud docs (previously - not sure at the moment of this post, same for Synology docs) to be confusing on this front. I had issues with Synology services and JumpCloud LDAP. Turns out you need to bind every user individually (whom you wish to access things via JumpCloud LDAP). I had incorrectly assumed that I could propagate LDAP via enabling the JumpCloud LDAP option for desired JumpCloud User Groups. I would only get listings of users, but no individual logins worked - corrected via manually enabling bind on each user.

Note - ignore the password expired, it's a test account.

What I love about the Free Subscription, is you can run unlimited non-production VM's 🙂

Well, I'm in the Debian and Gentoo corner, so that's not an issue at all for me 😉 I could get support from Canonical or some 3rd party company, but I didn't need that in the past, erm, 10-15 years. You can solve next to everything if you have an idea what's going on - or more precisely: how to diagnose a problem.

@travisdh1 said in Battery life on a Mac - How typical is my cycle count average?:

@JaredBusch Hopefully that 0% is more like 15-20%, otherwise lithium ion batteries get ruined quick. Being a Mac, they probably manage that and will work it so when it displays 0%, it's not detrimental to the battery yet.

Lithium batteries need treated much differently than NiCads used to. If a LiPo actually hits 0%, the internal components break down and the battery is ruined. Try to use it after that and you've got a fire starter, not a battery. My current hobby of making quadcopters made me memorize all the different safety and usage of the new batteries.

I have to trust the device manufacturers for that. For me it is just a habit. I know batteries and devices are smarter about it. But even lithium batteries need to hit < 20% for best lifespan.

Yeah, any iOS device I've had, you don't let it hit 0% (according to the device at least) regularly and the lifespan of the battery plummets. You can notice the loss of durability after just a few short charges. Doing a full discharge / recharge cycle and you eventually gain in back in most cases, but it takes months of training it to get it back.

We have so many devices like that that get full charge and discharge daily and we have original iPads and such that last for like five years or longer with battery life the same as when they were new.

If they buy the domain from a registrar, they can change the backup administrator for the domain and get access that way, I think.

If that Happened it means the domain wasn't locked and he let it expire so that's his own fault. It's not really His google apps anymore truly. If he wanted to make his own google apps account on the domain he now owns he'd have to delete the old one first.
