Are you setting the NICTeam IP or one of the adapters making the team.

Leave the individual adapters alone, and just set the Team

Yes, that's what I am doing. You can't set static on the adapters.

@thwr That's exactly right. DHCP is working but once I assign a static it doesn't work. I am using an unused IP address and am putting in the correct subnet, default gateway and DNS.

@ccwtech said in Windows Server 2016 NIC Teaming - No internet:

I have a server 2016 machine that when I enable NIC teaming (Switch independent) works just fine until I set a static IP on it.

Then it shows the static IP but also assigns it an APIPA address as well for some reason. That is causing issues (obviously) with network connectivity.

In the NIC Teaming area it shows both adapters connected. Both NIC's are not shared with any management adapters (Lights out, DRAC, etc.).

What do you mean by "working fine"? Do you set the IP on the Team or the individual NICs? VLANs involved?

Working fine means it can get to the internet, is seen by other computers on the network, etc.

I set a static IP on the team but not on the NIC's. There is no IPv4 on the NIC's after putting them into a team.

    • RE: Format of your wiki

      I'm also interested.

What information do you keep and do you have a default template that you always use?

For example listing the company, then contact information for after hours, then server passwords, then network structure, etc...

Not sure if JB is looking for the same, but I have yet to find a decent template that is comprehensive but not overly complicated.

Installing maybe... But it's need to run the software

I saw that all the time with crappy proprietary video surveillance software. You had to have admin rights to run it. Ridiculous!

Is there any surveillance software that isn't crappy? Ever one of them I have seen is just junk.

As far as this thread, I'm in the same boat... Software written back in the early 90's that is STILL the leading software in the veterinary industry requires local admin to run it.

Ok, cool. Thanks for the input. Sounds like Unifi is the way to go and I do already have a Vultr server.

If there is a chance you will be rolling out more APs, I would set up a unifi controller on Vultr. It makes rolling every AP after that faster and when it comes time to do firmware updates, all of your sites are right in front of you and you don't have to log in to computers in a bunch of different offices to fire up the controller.

      Sounds like a plan.

No, most are laptops and in/out of the office. They don't have a server. So either the cloud key or Vultr would do it. I just didn't know if there was a better option for a single AP solution.

I have been converted to using Ubiquity Unifi AP's (from this group).

However I have a client that just needs one AP. Since they require a bit more setup than others (the Unifi Controller) is there another brand that would be better in this situation?

Nothing I could think of. What are the chances that your client will stick to one AP for the foreseeable future? Let's say in the next 5 years?

Very small office, so 1 more maybe

Not gone through all the post but on a serious note has sticky notes within windows been mentioned? I use them now and then for reminders when I get into work after the weekend. Like jobs for the Telecom guy to fix when he visits, or I need to rejig a script before running it in the future

Yes it has. Stickynotes wouldn't scroll text between the application window and the taskbar.

Not looking for RSS feeds, just custom text that she can manually input and would scroll at the bottom of the screen for employee's to see throughout the day.

RSS would be a good input method for that, though.

Yeah, he is not listening to a damned thing. the best thing to do would be to use an RSS ticker and just whip out a quick RSS formatted file someplace that can be edited.

Doing something custom on the machine is just stupid.

I posted long ago that I found a solution but JB was upset I didn't do RSS... Hence this thread going way out of control.

If the solution you found is good enough for your boss, Screw @JaredBusch. Of course that said - when you boss comes back and wants you to roll this out company wide (or at least more than just one computer), You, the IT person will likely like the RSS solution to this.

I don't mind that. And I don't mind learning. It just seemed like someone's feelings were hurt. 😃

Will the RSS feed stay at the bottom like the photo showing the one I found does?

That depends on the particular ticker. That it is RSS feeding it is just the standard format for feeding that kind of data. Doesn't need to be RSS, that's just a simple format commonly associated with this kind of thing.

But it is two different things, one is the ticker that displays something (generally RSS) and the RSS which is just a text file for populating list data.

      Got it.

For this purpose it needs to be one that will sit on the bottom of the screen and sit between the task bar and a "Whiteboard" that will constantly change. Maybe this will help make sense.

That's why a post it won't work. It needs to allow the program to be up and running and scroll the text at the same time.

@bnrstnr, clearly we are looking for a technical solution to a procedural issue.

People are likely making their desks look like a child's play area, and the manager wants to stop it.

I get the impression this is for a machine like a Kiosk.

      OP is that right?

Kindof... It's a status screen for another piece of software just to display the current status of what's going on in the hospital.

Something that would stay on top like below... Really this software that I found fits exactly what we want, but apparently isn't good enough because it doesn't use RSS.0_1516652856835_Capture.JPG
