      Wow.

Yeah, amazing the lengths that companies will go through.

The fake office in a verified business with the intent of approaching them... I am lost for words on how messed up that is to lure people in as part of the key deliverables & company resume.

Will you still be giving out 1 year trials?

While I still have them πŸ™‚

There was subtle Internet humor in my joke.

      I wasn't talking about Webroot codes. πŸ™‚

Ah, I missed that. I'll have gifts for visitors, but I won't be able to send them outside of Colorado πŸ™‚

I've said it before, I'll say it again.

      MangoCon 201X ... Colorado!

      πŸ™‚

I'd be more likely to attend, since it's just a jump over from Boise. I was just in Denver last month hanging out with @zuphzuph.

That [moderated]er @zuphzuph skipped MangoCon cause he had to move.

      Boo! Boo!

[Moderated]... is the word 'bon'? If so, bon isn't a bad word. /sarcasm

    • Dealing with panic attacks...

Not going to go into too much detail. Short overview:

      *Working full time
      *School full time
      *Mortgage
*Unmarried, no kids, but living with my girlfriend
      *High level of bills
*Paying for school out of pocket

I am in honor society, and am now eligible for scholarships so I can stop paying out of pocket. What do I go and do with my good grades? Forget to take an exam (a take home exam, but we have 5 total, this was the first, and they are weighted 20%) while I'm studying for finals. So I went from an A+ in this classο»Ώ, to an F. If you even get a B, your chances of staying in honors is slim. I find out soon if I am going to be shown any leniency but there is a chance I'll get suspended from honor society, any scholarship opportunities frozen indefinitely. Worse case scenario, I fail the class and get kicked out of school for 12 months. Does it matter that I have a 4.0 average? Nope. You fail a class you are done.

I've been having a legitimate panic attack all day. Tried deep breathing exercises, talking to people, trying to keep an upbeat attitude, slow things down a little, and positive thinking.

What the hell else can one do besides just say f^ck it and start wading through sh^t creek? Anything that works for any of you?

      We average 63" a year.

19"? That is more than average for most years... they are being far too generous. πŸ˜„

@BBigford you only get a few decades to ride this mudball around the sun. On your deathbed, a missed exam or honors list whatever will be inconsequential. Live your life well and it will all work out right.

You might get a kick out of this scene from The Departed. It always makes me laugh for some reason. I think just because it's way over the top in regards to someone really stressed out:

What about the more typical bench work like setting up computers on desktops?

Everything is build to spec and a 3 year warranty. I prefer Dell, others prefer HP. Only thing I have to do is image it to get rid of bloatware and add necessary software, which is all automated. Each desktop only requires pushing F12 and the rest is done, including joining the domain/etc. I don't do custom builds anymore, no hardware upgrades to save a small amount of money during the initial purchase (like slightly cheaper cost on SSDs, memory). Costs more to have me do more then just spend a little more and have it shipped with it.

Getting the thread made, what topics would people be interested in seeing next year? While we are still here, might be a good time to discuss what would be useful while we are freshly thinking about it.

I bet this thread explodes with cool stuff the day after MC is over. "Things we would have liked to see" will probably get brought up...

Why water rather than actual coolant?

My guess, since coolant can be toxic, this stuff is preferred, 'coz it's mainly distilled water, additives & coloring

If you're not going to use coolant you really need to put a silver kill coil in your reservoir to prevent algae growth. Both coolant or distilled water with a kill coil work fine, but you really need to pick one or you will end up with a ton more maintenance and possibly nasty parts.

What about a full day of Linux training in the training room? Like a class training, not a session.

      Yes! What platform, Centos?

Probably. But Ubuntu, Suse, would be great, too.

Could also do FreePBX, Solaris or something as well.

A session on FreePBX would be great! And may be complete Zabbix, ELK training as well?

Nice build! Definitely looks like a fun system to have.

But seems like a whole lot of video horse power to be a Linux main OS...Please do let me know!

I had planned to build this (and purchased most of the parts) 3/4 years ago, hence the SM X9 board.
Back then, I was 100% Windows with zero Linux knowledge & I hadn't been contaminated by the folks here at ML
Since I still need Windows, like you, I've decided to flip the script (I read & used your laptop thread) & run W10 as a vm.

I'm hoping between Korora 25/Fedora 26/Korora 26 (when available), one of them should work out.

I do plan on editing videos...my daughter plays club volleyball & I shoot her games in 4K.
What is the preferred video editing software?
Will also run plenty of vms...I need to practice & get better at using "Linux"

Lightworks. But, give this thread a read. It gives a breakdown on some other really nice installs.

I absolutely refuse to use my own gear. It just allows the company to continue to put off spending money. I just keep proposing something. Every time something gets complained about, I just bitch about under spending on infrastructure. If it gets to me, I simply quit and go work for someone else that refuses the concept of spending money to update and scale infrastructure.
