But if it keeps going up, they'll price themselves out of my budget.

I'm not sure what price would put them out of my budget.. probably around $20/m.

I'll be at the $11.99 plan after the price increase. (Streaming only). That ties it with Hulu. If it goes up again, we'll start talking about other options (aside from Hulu).

Netflix commits to spending more on original content than Hulu, Amazon, and Apple combined.

          https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/10/two-months-after-disney-split-netflix-pledges-8b-for-original-content/

Netflix has almost no original programming, but if you look at your feed, you will see a shit ton of "Netflix Original" tags on stuff that most certainly was not made by Netflix.

This is easily noticeable in their Japanese Anime collection. Not a single one of these are actual Netflix created content.

I bet they (netflix) have it as a value add that a show producer can pay extra for to have improved viewership on the platform.

A lot is. Stuff like Club de Cuervos is 100% Netflix made.

Apparently CNN reported on this 2 years ago.
                        https://www.cnet.com/news/netpicks-everything-you-need-to-know-about-netflix-originals/

Well, it's a little confusing. You have original-originals -- shows created and driven by Netflix, like "House of Cards," and the upcoming "Daredevil."

Then, there are also continuation properties, ones Netflix picked up from cable TV and made additional seasons of, like "Trailer Park Boys" or "Arrested Development." Finally, there are exclusive shows of which Netflix is the sole distributor within the US, like "The Fall."

That's pretty common. US networks have traditionally referred to things as being originals when they are just the first to air them in the country.

Yes, but I still hate the terminology. Calling it Exclusive would be great. Original, not so much.
