I'm kind of considering buying a gaming laptop for the first time. This seems like a really good deal: https://www.amazon.com/GL753VE-DS74-G-SYNC-Gaming-i7-7700HQ-7200RPM/dp/B01N2WG5HN?th=1

That's like an upgraded, and larger, version of mine. Good stuff.

Just don't expect much in the way of battery life.

Or proper venting of heat 😕 Many reasons I have not done laptop gaming yet. It's tough.

@scottalanmiller : How does the ROG do when gaming? Does it do well at not roasting the laptop from the heat generated?

Scott loves his rog but he typically plays indie games. I don't think anything too crazy graphically

My 3 year old Acer plays games well unless the fans are clogged. If you buy a gaming laptop, invest in some canned air to keep the fans clean too!

The ROG machines have amazing venting. Look at the back of the things. They're almost absurdly thick because of it, but it does the best job of heat dissipation of anything I've looked at.

That's a winning endorsement. Thank you.

I play Civ VI regularly on mine, and it is a very intensive game from a performance perspective. The fan is running constantly, but the keyboard and underside don't get at all hot.

Trying to figure out how to get Meraki to authenticate laptops against AD and a security group through NPS/RADIUS.

It keeps asking for user credentials. Anybody have any suggestions?

Argh. Wrong post. Supposed to go to the "What are you doing right now?" post.

Well, they do now. Previous generations, not so much. I've got one that's ~4 years old, and I have to put it on a fan at all times or it will shut down from GPU heat. But I know they have fixed that issue. Other than getting hot, mine is super monkey badass.

I had gotten a new laptop as a Christmas gift for some friends a couple years back, and they busted the screen within a week. It's now velcrod to the back of the tv (it's one of those ultra thin and light models). Works great with a wireless mouse/keyboard and HDMI cable.

Four years of gaming will do that to you.

Absolutely, questions shouldn't be inline in other threads. Better than not asking at all, but that knowledge is all just lost even if Google can see it. Every question should be its own topic.
