DBAN covers just about any data wiping requirement, and it's free.

Physical destruction is always my preferred option... but DBAN works too 😉

so DBAN is the low end solution by Blancco. I am looking for something in the middle range for mid size enterprise.

Mid size enterprise? Then don't deal with that crap.

Decommissioned equipment is sold to recyclers that will securily erase all drives with certificates and then resell your equipment or the parts in it.

                  Hey all!

So I am looking for a Data Erasure Software - something like Blancco but they are too expensive. Looking for something safe for a corporate environment but around $1k or so .

                  Any ideas please?

We've been using this for about a decade and a half. It's free and just works.

Or that. Either way, only DIYers and tinkerers not driven by business decisions can afford to mess around with stuff like that.

Enterprise companies should off load this kind of work to other companies that can do it much better and much cheaper than they can.

@Pete-S Agreed. We found a local archive place that recycles or destroys all our old stuff, they provide certificates of destruction and will shred hard drives on site (which is freeky awsome by the way).

We have a local facility that will shred drives for $5.

Agreed, this isn't an in house function. It's an outsource function. There's no potential "value add" having this done uniquely in house.

Same here. They are coming next week to remove some old, Dinosaur age storage boxes... which have MANY drives in each. Worth it every time.
