Ipad guru for Site connectivity issue

@scottalanmiller Can't you rate limit the guest network and use QoS to mitigate at least a portion of this?

I don't see any options to limit the wireless performance, you can limit the bit rate (for high density environments) but that could cause other issues with other devices.
As for QoS, that doesn't fix the issue of devices being dropped from the network.

wouldn't packet loss be the cause of devices being dropped? I'd think QoS would at least stop the businesses devices from being dropped, no?

If the issue is from a volume of devices, it's not the devices that are the issue. This isn't related to them using iPads, other than they are using lots of devices on wifi all at once. It's not an iPad issue, but a wifi/network issue.
Too much power, overlapping APs, too many APs, all kinds of things can cause issues. Or too few, bad signal, etc.
I thought I read he had 18 iPads, but I don't see that here anymore... that doesn't seem like to many, even for a single AP...
Also it's only being used for transactions from the sound of it so likely not a lot of traffic
And it's all local - there's an onsite "server" that's handling the transactions, so it's not like it's tied to the speed of the internet.

This is a cloud based system, not like the other one I was talking about, so no Server on site. it has a "socket server" but that's another tablet, and acts as a bridge to the cloud - is what I was told by the vendor.
Damn I missed that information too ?

not likely in a shared medium like wifi.

Not in this case, because if the APs are being overwhelmed with to much traffic, they are just dumping all traffic and starting over.

Are customer's allowed on any SSID on this network? or only employee and business devices?

so how many total devices are we talking about?
what is the bandwidth of the ISP connection?
what is the bandwidth utilitzation per endpoint for the application in question?
how much bandwidth is being chewed up by staff devices downloading FB, YT, updates, etc? perhaps that needs to be squeezed to next to nothing to ensure enough bandwidth for the business stuff. -
@WrCombs what is the sq footage of the building and how many employees are in the building at the same time?

I have no idea. on Fridays all of the tablets are in use with payment devices + 2 or 3 Managers.

Was it recently upgraded? A few failures were common when upgrading from 5.x.xx to 6.x.xx versions.

Still on 5.x.xx I believe, at least it was last night.

You sure that wasn't just the firmware?
Where is the controller hosted?
You're company isn't the network support group, right? that's why you don't have admin rights to the controller - hell, I'm amazed you have read only rights to the controller.

If you can get us a # of devices from the dashboard, that would help. I'm guessing there are going to be a bunch of them connected to the one that is closest to or in the kitchen area.

I'm trying to remember exactly, but I think the controller was on 4.x.xx and firmware was on 5.x.xx for the APs. but I could be completely wrong. Gotta get back in there to see.

Damn.. controller v4... that's ancient!
