ONLYOFFICE tests end-to-end encryption of documents with blockchain

The end-to-end encryption reinforced by blockchain is available as a developer preview in the new version of ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors.
End-to-end encryption mode allows:
- Encrypting files to store them locally or in the cloud.
- Privately editing documents in the cloud.
- Sharing encrypted documents for secure co-editing.
Key strengths
- Encryption on the client side.
- Documents, including temporary files, are encrypted.
- Encrypted inputs while collaborating on documents online.
- Blockchain technology for reliable password storing and transferring.
How to try
- Install the latest version of ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors.
- Open the application and go to the Settings.
- Enable the 'Test end-to-end encryption' option.
- Go to the End-to-end encryption tab on the left.
- Enable the encryption mode.

@hellonadya I like the idea of end-to-end encryption, but I wonder if blockchain is really the correct technical answer to the problem. It seems to me that tracking the chain would eventually create large bottlenecks and storage space problems. Do you have any documentation on how the blockchain encryption is implemented?

We do not expect storage space problems soon as we use the network for password storing and transferring only.

At the moment the network is for testing purposes only, but yes we are working hard to prevent issues that might occur. We also presented this technology at two IT conferences in Europe, and the majority of questions asked were about the network))
Please, bring us some feedback whether it is clear and comfortable to use, we are eager to hear that :smiling_face_with_smiling_eyes:
