Using a Snom PA1 for paging
-
OP updated.

We have ours connected from the PA1 "Line Out" port to a Bogen TPU-100B, without any kind of impedance adapter.

It all comes to impedance matching.
If that output and the Bogen input are the same, you need nothing.
Just like my above example of the Chromebook straight to the Aux-In.

@jaredbusch Thanks Jared.
BTW I found this from the PA1 users manual:
One "MIC in" and one "LINE out" 3.5 mm connector for headset connection (SPK impedance =
150 Ohm, MIC power supply 3.3V, RL = 2 KOhm, S= -42 dB (+-2dB)). Microphone input must
be differential and without grounding. This port is for installation and maintainance purposes
only, not for the connection of other devices. So the impedance on the headset output (aka line out) is 150 ohm.

Yup. That is why I generally never use it.

I ran across this post in searching for some information in hooking up an SNOM PA1 to an amp that I inherited in a building setup here and I'm still confused in my particular situation after looking at the picture you provided. There was a crown amplifier that was already in place and two speakers (70v speakers) in the shop area hooked to that and I want to hook the SNOM PA1 to that amp to page over the loudspeakers, but I'm unsure if I need an impedance adapter or something between the SNOM and the amp. Here's picture of the back of the amp:

If I hook a traditional speaker up via the line out on the SNOM I'm able to hear everything as I would expect when paging over that speaker, but do you have any advice as to what the hookup to the amp would look like? Would I need an adapter that splits line out to either input 2 or 3? Or something else entirely? Thanks.

Welcome to ML. Must be some amazing search engine shit going on since I just posted that this morning.
Anyway. To answer your question.
No, you do not need to do anything because your amplifier has an 8Ω input on it.
Disable the built in amplifier in the Snom settings and connect it there.
-
Sounds good...I'll give it whirl and see what happens. Thanks!
-
OK...back at this site this afternoon and I've got a pair of wires run now from the speaker connection (red and black) on the SNOM PA1 to the 8Ω input there on the amp. In the Preferences->PA1 Controls section in the SNOM settings, amplifier gain is set to 0. I still hear nothing on the two loudspeakers connected to the amp. Not sure what I would be missing.
-
@dragon3303 No idea. This is normally a pretty straightforward thing.
I always say to disable the amp in the Snom to make sure you are not over driving the input on your amp.
You have a sensitivity adjustment there on the amplifier. have you turned it up and down while testing?
-
Yes...I've tried adjusting the level but no results with that either. I'll keep at it and figure it out. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I would have to Google a manual for your amp to see what the specs are for these inputs and such.
I was strictly assuming based on the labels.

Hello Community -
I am having problems connecting our SNOM PA1 to an external amplifier and think I need an attunuator, however, I am not certain how to connect to my amp? (https://proaudio.com/rdl-stp-1-stick-on-universal-attenuator/)
If anyone has any design ideas, or knows of a worthy tech in the Mahopac, NY area I'd happily pay a pro to set it up.

@smartfiber I sent you a DM
-
@smartfiber it is all about matching impedance or other expected audio parameters.
Part of your issue is that you are using the VDD port.
That is not an audio output port, it is a 3.3V DC output. And you are plugging it in to an output from your amp.
