@Markferron Have you tried rearming the original key using the following command on CMD slmgr.vbs -rearm. Please run CMD as administrator maybe that might help as well.

I am using a promox server with the following raid-RAIDZ-3. A variation on RAID-5, triple parity. Requires at least 5 disks. It works awesome for my VMs. It protects me fully if one disk goes down.

In my honest opinion in depends on the end user. Like i know VM ware does somethings great and other not so much. KVM is the same way as well it all depends what are you most comfortable using. I have dealt with VMware and i have to say it is a little buggy at times. KVM for me is the one i would choose it is so much easier to deal wit as a end user.

I been working with Proxmox 3 years now and it is solid OS. I like it a lot been running some basic VMs on it not to fancy works like a charm.

I never ever liked windows update service. In one hand they fix some issues but in the other hand they create more unnecessary issues. I am glad you were able to isolate the update and made it work congrats.
