Dumb phones
Even dumb phones have accurate GPS.
Exactly. Whether land lines or the cheapest cell phones. Only thing that doesn't is VoIP, but if you have VoIP... you probably have GPS.

Only the person who needs help has to have is the ability to read (their language) and a dumb phone.
Dumb phones aren't a thing. If that's the requirement, again, point made.
A phone without internet (aka the dumb phone) only able to make calls or send / receive SMS.
There is no point made.
Your point is everyone already has a phone, so just pull the GPS from that when someone is calling. Prove how that is useful?
300 meters, pull my location.

Those phones still have GPS and if not, can still use the cell towers to find you.

you have a phone - the phone either has GPS or can use the cell towers to get close to find you. no 3 word location needed.
And it is way faster and more accurate. And can't be so easily tampered with. The three word system, because it is gibberish, is highly dangerous. Anyone changing a sign can't be identified because you can't tell when the words are wrong, unlike house numbers or GPS that increment in logical ways. And getting it wrong gets it very, very wrong. The margin of error is zero.

When you call the cops you give them the address you're at right?
So this is for places that literally have no address.

Not in the real world, no. That's a television thing.
-

We've covered that. You know this isn't logical. Why do you keep mentioning addresses after we've shown that it makes no sense in that scenario.

BAHAHAH you're insane.
You absolutely give them your address. Just because the police in developed areas can quickly pull your location doesn't mean that they are equipped to do so in the parts of the world where this would be critical.

nope, either the land line you have is registered, or your cell phone gives the cops your GPS info.
-
When you call the cops (that's a 911 call) from a landline, they have your address before they even pick up the phone. When you call from a cell phone, they have your GPS coordinates in seconds. In no case do you need to give the cops your address. People do to verify that the GPS info is correct or just out of habit, but it is completely unnecessary. Pick up the phone, dial 911, let them pick up, then hang up. Trust me, the cops will show up.

In those parts of the world, it's even more critical to have GPS, because, as mentioned.. there are not streets for which to give an address on.

Then you send your GPS coordinated by SMS. That's how people communicate in those parts of the world. How do you not understand that if you have a phone, you have GPS coordinates and the ability to send them.

More critical for the police to have GPS. As a person who lives there, you simply need to know YOUR location.

How? The the three words just get converted to GPS. So if GPS isn't the answer, 3 words doesn't even work.

That's theoretically useful in the case where you are sending a message in a bottle and somehow know your three word address and memorized it and you wont' move for years and hopefully someone gets that bottle and finds your note and sends the police. But for anyone with a phone, this is just silly.

Who the hell honestly knows how to go into their phone (SMS and voice only) and send their GPS coordinates or to even present them on the phone during an emergency.
You're making up some excuse where people just know everything about their device and can at an instance notice provide this information.

Wait what? Your phone is registered and your info comes up on a screen. They ask you the current location just to confirm and to make sure they know who they are talking to. Even with cell phones they get the info the line is currently registered to and the GPS coordinates of the device or nearest cell phone tower.
This is the reason dialing 911 and leaving the phone off hook in the event of a break in or domestic issues is so important because it gets them to you with out you having to say anything.

You're being close minded and not seeing how people actually operate. In the ted talk he clearly talks about how emergency responders can't accurately get to where help is because of a lack of human readable addresses in many parts of the world.
Lat and Longitude are not "human readable" they may be Scott readable, but there aren't many Scott's out there.

No one, because it is unnecessary, because they get the GPS automatically at emergency services. If you needed it, though, it's pretty trivial to do.
Remember, you are talking about parts of the world where people do digital banking via SMS on their flip phones. They know how to use them, even if you don't.
