Looking for a Nextcloud install guide

I've tried a couple of the popular online photo places, and none of them really fit the need/want that I have. I currently have my entire photo library in Aperture. (the Apple program) I would be happy to move the library somewhere else, especially since Apple killed off Aperture more than a year ago already. However, I haven't found a replacement that fits our needs: A photo organizer/database, with built in "pro" grade photo editing. Aperture fits these requirements, and I've tried a couple others, but they just didn't fit the bill. Maybe I'm too picky, or just looking in the wrong places.
It's the built in editing that is the issue. I prefer to keep editing and storage separate.

Next cloud would fit 1/2 of it.(photo storage and auto upload from phones) However, I'd still need photo editing software, and I'm sure I can find Open source something to fit that piece of it.
No way would I pay for Adobe cloud.

Yep, I was going to suggest just that.

It definately looks like I'll be pushed in that direction. Not that that's a bad thing. Just need to find a great open source photo editing app that I like. (and no, GIMP is not a simple tool that I like to edit with.)

Haha, I was in the middle of posting NO to GIMP as you were posting. That's too complex for our needs. This needs to be wife friendly as well.

Please post about any open source/free solutions you find for good Professional photo editing.

Paint.net? I think that's open source.

@Dashrender Will do.

It's quite powerful, which is where the problem for most people comes in. I imagine @fuznutz04 would like it after getting acquainted with the interface.

I've used it previously, and even have it installed on one of my Windows boxes right now. It's not bad, and very comparable to Photoshop. I could get used to it probably, I just never committed to it for any length of time to give it chance. One thing that it doesn't do well is photo storage/organization/viewing. For example, with Aperture, I can tag photos by person, location, events, etc. Bringing this back to Nextcloud, does Nextcloud offer this sort of photo organization/sorting/viewing?

@fuznutz04 The easiest way to get Netcloud setup is to setup their appliance VM. Go to https://nextcloud.com/install/#instructions-server and select "Appliances" tab. You'll see a link to www.techandme.se who is their official Nextcloud appliance provider. Tech And Me has 2 versions of Nextcloud. One on a 20GB drive and another on a 500GB drive. Either choice you can expand the space allocated.

Great to know. I'll check that out to see if I like the functionality and then go from there. Thanks.

Gimp has gotten better over the years, yeah. Still not perfect, but OK. For drawing, there is Krita, a must-try. And Darktable is a great RAW editor.

I'm not up to speed on GIMP, but my very non-technical neighbor can rock it.

It's a design tool so us tech types don't tend to grok it, but graphics people do. It's a very good tool.
