In most states, the only way to waive it is to promote the employee to manager. Which doesn't mean more money, but means that they are forced to tell other potential employers that you were a manager. And you must have the responsibilities of a manager.

This is where you are confused. It is your employer doing this. There is no way around it. It's that they allow it, which then means it's a consideration in who they employ and who they do not. It means someone not willing to waive their breaks is at a potential disadvantage. And that's specifically why the law exists, to protect the break. If you can waive the break, the break isn't protected.

It looks like the "waive" is not needed in Nebraska. Outside of blue collar mechanical jobs, Nebraska has no break protection whatsoever.

They do have a statute for a 1/2 hour break every 8 hour shift alloted for lunch..
Nebraska ½ hour, off premises, for lunch in each 8-hour shift. Statute Applicable to assembly plant, workshop, or mechanical establishment, unless employee is covered by a valid collective bargaining agreement or other written agreement between an employer and employee. -

I have an on site customer meeting in a few hours. Should be nearby, but with the rain, it is not. Going to take an hour to get there thanks to Dallas drivers.
