My understanding was that just as many of the vulnerabilities came from the fact that Microsoft released their source to China in order to get into their market in the first place. I forget where I heard that but I could be wrong.

I don't see much hope other than starting over in a case like this. It's more or less the same as doing the infamous rm -rf / except far better because at least you can take a final backup and recover, file by file, anything specific that you need.
I am still waiting for the dev to give me more info on the type of request/data transfer happens between the tab and server. If it's just a Web service request then my life is easier, webserver with ssl and am done. Initial info is that it's a Web service.
CoreOS could threaten Linux potentially. Not completely threatened (especially as it "is" Linux) but it could very much change the face of the Linux ecosystem and reduce the number of traditional deployments.
I agree, Cinnamon would have been the obvious choice. But that other article talks about that city in Germany choosing MATE too. I wonder what the impetus was for that.
